protein check?

i remember in my relaxed hair days my hair loved the protein treatments, but now that am 16months transitioning i dont know if my hair needs a protein treatment or not. is there a protein check test if so what is it?

If your hair seems damaged then a protein treatment would be a good idea. If your hair is fine then a protein treatment once a week or every two weeks or using a daily conditioner with protein would be a good idea. When hair feels brittle or stiff that usually means your hair has too much protein.

some people do the "stretch or snap" test.

you take a shed strand of hair and pull it taut. If it snaps instantly, there's a lot of protein in it and you need more moisturizing products. If it stretches or the curl doesn't spring right back you might need more protein.

the thing is, if part of your hair is relaxed and part is natural, it may be breaking anyway, because that's what hair will tend to do if you've stopped relaxing it and now have two different textures. at least that's what happened to me during my transition -- the healthier i made my natural new growth, the more the relaxed was like BUMP THIS and started breaking lol. it's two different sets of hair so treating them the same with the same products may not always work out.
