texture issues!!

i feel very nervous about, my hair and so i was wondering did anyone have a texture change after their big chop.

RizosMio 01-31-2013 11:23 AM

A texture change as in a relaxer? I assume many people have gone back to relaxing after going natural...they probably just don't frequent this forum ;)

Why are you nervous about your texture? What are your reasons for going natural?

dee-nature 01-31-2013 11:34 AM

Mine did. I thought i had 3c/4a hair when i BC but as my hair got longer i realized that i am 4a with patch of 3c at the nape. Now that i have been hennaing my curls are super loose.Either way for me it doesn't matter. This is the hair God gave me and if tomorrow its 2a or 4z i will learn how to care for it. All i know is nothing beats my natural hair.

texture issues

well i decided to go natural because i wanted to just embrace my NATURAL HAIR, also my hair never passes neck length and i was getting over it. anyways what i mean when i say texture change is that sometimes u think you are a 3c when in fact you are a 4a, so since my hair is transitioning when i was it it super defined, but once it drys it gets super frizzy with no kind of definition.

to dee-nature, lol 4z,

Ohh...sorry for misunderstanding!

Yes like dee-nature mentioned, it'll change. How much it changes depends on shrinkage. The perm hair weighs down the strands making our curl pattern appear looser. I'm transitioning too, but I've cut quite a bit of perm here and there and the curl definitely shrinks back...I'd say about 40% maybe.

Curl definition can be very easily disrupted, even drying your hair with a towel can make it fuzzy and undefined. If you're transitioning try to focus on combining the two hair textures (braids work well) this way you give it its definition. If you're already doing this and it's frizzy more often than not, you might be using products that do not work well for your hair.
