Growing out transitioning 4a/3c hair

Hello :) I'm new on this site and was hoping to learn loads of new stuff about curly hair :D

I'm 13 (14 next month) and have been transitioning to natural hair since September 2011 so now i should be 17 months post (I think :bounce: )

My protective style is braids I normally keep them in 6 weeks at a time, whilst still taking care of my hair underneath. I washed MY hair yesterday and found it hard to detangle. I normally use a lot of conditioner to at least add some slip but it just didn't work. I'm a bit frustrated but I think everything would be easier if my natural hair was longer. Right now, my hair is blow dryed so it's a bit below my nape but just resting on my shoulders.

How do I grow out my hair faster ? Take pills ? Massage my scalp... What should I do ?

Thanks (:

Many ways to grow hair. Vitamins, water, eating healthy, scalp massages and patience. Your hair will grow. Your young. :)

Adding a oil to your conditioner like coconut or olive will add slip to your hair so you can detangle

Lucky!!!! My mom won't let me transition. She said that my hair looked bad( you could se my curl pattern; it was so beautiful) and made me get a perm. Now, I'm thinking about doing the big chop if she'll let me. I think it would be much easier, because once it's cut, she can't don anything about it!!
Sorry!! I got way off topic. To answer your question,I've heard that scalp massaging and plenty of water is good, but I think you should just cut the rest of the relaxed ends off if you're confident enough. Btw, I'm 13 too. Good Luck!!

Hi all.. I stopped using relaxers and putting heat to my hair three years ago.. I and most of the people that I associate with consider my hair as being natural.. What people need to understand is there are chemicals in everything, including water.. I use beautiful beginnings curl softener for kids and mixed chick's products for my 2c hair.. Couldn't be happier

Lovin my natural coils!

I am 9mos natural since the big chop....the best decision i ever made where my hair was concerned. So, if anyone is second guessing or have any doubt about the big chop...please dont! It's the best thing you can do for your hair and your soul..please believe me. The hair grows back so healthy and strong, and all the wonderful products you can have fun trying...lol...im into As I Am products right now...and i love it...my hair feels like cotton. Happy chopping!!
