Default Should I just curl to clump?

Hi all, I'm 2c hair type and passed a year of transitioning. And now my natural hair is already past my nose bridge, while the rest is from chemical straightening (it reaches about 2 inches past my shoulder).

Problem is, my natural wave can't seem to clump together, could it be because my stick-straight hair from the treatment that's preventing my hair to get its natural clump? Or is there any recommendation what product to use? I'm also thinking to get it permed instead just so my hair won't seem to poof out so much and could clump more without hassle with it every morning as well as blending in with my natural hair, what do you think?
