transitioning hairstyles

I'm Dominican and so by that my mom Dosent really like the idea of me transitioning but I love it I'll prove her wrong though. My question is I want to try a heatless transitioning hair styles using perm rods I'm not working my hair or anything I just want to curl them on the rods and sleep on them so that my hair wouldn't look crazy and I'd have beautifully bouncy curly hair till my hair has fully grown out the heat damaged hair I just wanna know how I could wash out the left over chemicals on the perm rods that my friend permed her hair with . I don't want to put those chemicals in my hair and I don't wanna buy new perm rods so if u can help please do I need to completely remove the chemicals
