I stepped out of my comfort zone and tried honey and olive oil hair mask. I found pro's and cons

I've only been transitioning for Almost 4 months now and still did not see a real pattern to my new growth. As a matter of fact my hair just looked like I had blow dried my hair except a few areas which was ok with me. But I wanted to see the different textures (crazy I know)
.
The cons of the honey and olive oil:
Can you say sticky although the oil blended well it was STICKY. I place a shower cap over my hair for 45 mins

The pro's of the honey and olive oil hair mask: warm water it rinsed out easy...Thank God for the olive oil . I rinsed in sections and I'm glad I did because I now have definition of my new growth and that fragile part of my hair (demarcation line) is noticeable.
I can see my curls forming

Good job! Yeah you can totally see new curly growth!
I'm glad you had such success with this recipe. I did NOT. The honey made my hair crunchy.
I used a lot of oil . Before I did this I made sure I did a lot of reading . I wasn't expecting it to highlight my new growth the way it did but honestly I wasn't expecting it to do anything but be a waist of time.. well after the treatment I I put about 10 Platz in my hair and roll be in with soft sponge rollers. I slept on it overnight damp not soaking wet and this is the result I'm very happy with it and this is something I may use in the future

Here is an update on my hair the next.: after 3 hours my hair looked very dry. I was a little disappointed because I haven't seen my hair this dry in a very long time. I did put some coconut creme on my hair before going out. At first the it just looked dry then it was dry even to the touch. Which was frustrating.
I'm still very excited about this journey I'm taking......

I'm not transitioning but I did this last night as my deep treatment. I usually use an egg, olive oil, and honey....but I ran out of egg. I hated the mix without the egg. It was soooo sticky, I felt like I couldn't work it through my hair
I use Evoo by itself as a prepoo but only with honey if it's also mixed with a moisturizing conditioner.

I make a deep conditioning treatment with olive oil, honey, and a bunch of other ingredients and it makes my hair INCREDIBLY SOFT! Maybe it would work for you

I use a banana, egg, tressemme naturals conditioner, olive oil, grapeseed oil, coconut oil, honey, and a very little bit of lemon juice.

To make it, I add everything except for the coconut oil and honey together in a food processer (Blender works the same). Then, I heat up the honey and coconut oil together so they're warm and a more watery texture. I then add them to the rest of the mix and blend it in the food processor until it's the consistency of a goopy cream. I apply this to my whole head and put my hair up in clips then put a shower cap on. I leave this on for about an hour but you can do it longer if you want. I rinse it out with cool water and then apply a RO conditioner (usually Giovanni 50:50) and leave it on for 1-3 minutes. After I rinse that off (with cool water) I just use a leave-in conditioner as my styler for the day (Givonna Direct Leave-In is my favorite). My curls are super defined, bouncy, and soft and without that deep conditioning treatment I'd definitely need to use gel in order to get my hair to do that.

Let me know if you try it and how it works for you
Curl Type: in transition so can't be too sure; thinking 3B
Porosity: In transition right now low at root, normal mid shaft, and high on the ends
Texture: Coarse (medium)
Kinking Present (mostly subtle and gradual only have macro in the really coarse areas)
Length: Shoulder Bob with layers

Shampoo: Nature's Gate Tea Tree Sulfate Free

Conditioner: RO Tressemme Naturals
Giovanni 50:50

Leave-In: Giovanni Direct Leave-In
Gel: Aussie Sprunch Mousse/Leave-In
I sometimes add banana baby food to my dc. I don't have to worry about blending. Washes out great with a ro.

The honey and coconut oil really defined my hair but it was dry a day later. .. I really love the mixed it worked very well on my transitioning hair but made I need to something extra like the banana and even the egg.. ..to give it that extra kick. That was missing. ....After I try the mixture with the added ingredients

I don't use DIY treatments because they don't work on my hair. The deep treatment I use is by eden body works.
