My friend inspired me to go natural after she transitioned for two years (she kept it braided) and gave me the "big reveal" and she had the most beautiful hair I had ever seen. I had no idea it was that gorgeous!
As far as inspiring others... my sister decided to go natural and she hasn't had a relaxer for three months. I was so happy when I found out! Her 7 yr old daughter had a relaxer done, but my sister has since cut off most of the relaxed hair and my niece is almost 100% natural again after a 13 months of transitioning.
Big Chop: 9/23/07 Relaxer free for almost 5 years!
my coworker has decided that she wants to be natural now. she has a short hair cut. she has been cutting the relaxed ends for about 2months. ive tried to be supportive but she seems to think that because she's going natural she doesn't have to do anything to her hair. alot of people have asked why her hair doesn't look as good as mine. she'll just tell them because it's a different texture but that's not it. her hair is dry because she doesn't take the time to take care of it. i've even given her some products to use but i don't think she has used them. her favorite line to say is "my hair doesn't make me". i agree that hair doesn't make you. but for me, i could have on a sweatsuit and sneakers and feel like im on the catwalk when my hair looks good. i hope eventually she'll do better.
Well this weekend I went to the club with some friends, and a girl with curly hair kept gushing over how pretty she thought my hair was. I told her about the book and a little about the CG method and she seemed really interested. Also after the club another girl complemented my hair and several guys that night. It made me feel all excited!
