going natural(finally)?

Hey sistas!,
this is my first post and im looking for some advice from one mixed
chick to anoda. This is the deal:Ive been trying to go natural for the
past few weeks and i just wind up using the straightener again... The
thing is my hair is naturally curly for those few minutes that its
wet...nd when it drys out...lol...My hair is the type 3b and because
of that i get varied results when i try to curl my hair..most are
nappy and some are well defined curls.I want well defined curls that
arent weighed down, puffy and nappy at the ends. The products i've
been using so far has been drying my hair out. Im looking for
something that can keep the curl and moisture too. So basically im jus
looking for some tips and products that can get the curl, maintain it
and keep it lookin fresh everyday of the week and something not 2
expensive!& if you can tell me ur day-2-day curl routine that would be
very helpful 2!
thanks
Welcome! I am mixed too! Are your sure your hair is 3b...do you still have relaxer in it? When I used to relax my hair, and then I decided to leave it curly the curl was different. I didn't think you can really tell what your curls will look like till you have grown out and cut off the relaxer. I hadn't had a relaxer for awhile and I just recently got alot cut off...I think there may have still been some in there because since the cut my curls are more well-behaved. I'm sure after being completely natural and findng a healthy routine that suites you, you'll be suprised for how well your curls turn out.

Back on Cones,so now my routine is,wash with Deva No-Poo every other day or so. Occasionally use 365 sulfate free, maybe use low sulfate shampoo mixed with conditioner once every two weeks are longer. I condition with Aussie Moist or HEHH. I style with a little GF TN,and finish up with tons of GN Pure Clean Smoothing Cream. No frizz...slippy, happy hair.
Welcome!

You are beautiful!
I agree with what Brown&Curly said. Unless you've worn your hair natural most of your life until now, you wouldn't know your curl pattern. I would suggest getting the Curly Girl book. Your products probably have way too many silicones and your shampoo probably has sodium lauryl or laureth sulfate (SLS). These are probably drying out your hair. I would suggest getting products at a health food store. Though I have heard great things about Creme of Nature shampoo found at Sally's Beauty Supply. HTH. There is also a newbie board that discusses some of the ideas behind the Curly Girl routine.
3b/c, medium-coarse, low porosity, high density
HG: Jessicurl Too Shea and Kinky Curly Curling Custard
Shampoo: nonsulfate shampoo and Suave Naturals sulfate shampoo when needed
