Aw honey thank you for saying so but the gray just sucks. I don't know how much longer I can stand it without some sort of lowlights, or just BC'ing.
About this 3-day bun, do you keep it in for 3 days or do you re-bun every day?
Speckla, the bun was surprisingly easy, there is a youtube showing how to do it. It may be in the bunning thread. I'll try to find a link.

You're welcome! Cute hair is cute hair
So, I wash on Day 1 and since I am trying to grow out my bangs (such a pain!) I twist them and pin them back near the crown. That actually looks cute, I'll try to get a pic to post! Then I pull my hair up into your basic, boring bun. At night, I take down and scrunch with JCS N&S. On Day 2 and 3 I do everything except for wash/wet hair. I fix my little twists and I might wet my palms and kinda smooth frizzies on the top of my head so I don't look like a 5 year old who just woke up from a nap Then on Day 4, I wash and wear my hair out! Day '5' starts the new cycle of bunning!
It's easy for me since I work in a restaurant. Hair needs to be up anyway and it's getting hot, so I actually don't mind 3 days of damp hair in varying degrees
Oh, also, I vote for lowlights! Your hair is too pretty to BC plus think of all the progress you've made!!

Newbie here but I am so in on this grow out challenge. My relaxed hair is already very long. I have been relaxer free for one month and I've already got 1-2 inches of growth. Looking forward to full on curliness next May.
Yay!

Count Me In!
I am hoping for at least 6 inches of growth over the next year...have ALWAYS wanted looong hair, but it never seemed to grow- I think due to all the breakage caused by relaxers and heat styling. Has anyone tried taking Biotin suppliment to help with hair growth?

I wish I knew how to grow my hair...it grows then breaks then it has to be cut to grow it again =[
I think my hair just stops growing at some point

tulipan- not sure! maybe you have to be logged in to see them? weird, that happens to me sometimes when I go to look at other people's fotki...
curlyswirly- I have taken Biotin vits (5000 mcg) and while my hair and nails did grow faster, it gave me severe acne, which I am still recovering from and I stopped using them 2 months ago... not worth it for me!

I'd join, but I think it's important to trim when necessary. Otherwise, the hair will break off anyway and keep you from getting any length. (Says the girl who didn't go to a stylist for 5+ years... Still, I made the fiance do a few trims on me, so I was "dusting.")
What is the point of the no trimming rule?
ETA: Aww! Speckla, it's cute! Congrats!

I don't think there is a no-trim rule, other I wouldn't be in the challenge. The rules of this challenge are self-imposed.

Oooh! I think I got this thread confused with a different grow out challenge! No trimming was part of the rules for that one. (weird...)
That's great that those aren't part of the rules then! I'm definitely in! I'm not sure how long I should aim for. I guess as long as I can get while keeping my hair healthy and moisturized. I'm wearing conditioned and oiled buns a lot now.

Thank you tulipan and hola! It seems similar to the hair supplement I'm taking (Groganics).

I'm on board, too! I originally started a challenge that will last to the first day of winter '08, but I wouldn't mind going until May 2009!

I'm in! Last actual cut was about early November, trim sometime in January. I've had my hair at about chin length for what seems like forever. I really want to grow it long just to see what it looks like, but I have no patience! I have a lot of moments of weakness where I just want to cut all my hair off again...but I'm trying to hang in there. Good luck everybody!
