I'm am going to try to get some pics of my hair up soon. I transitioned for a REALLY long time so I think you should keep transitioning until you finally want to be liberated..lol. My hair also drys alot differently now. Like before with the relaxed ends the new growth would dry into a 4a texture but now my hair drys 3c/3b. Your avatar pic looks very cool...if you dont mind me asking...what is it? lol

That sounds great - I'd love to see your pictures! Just curious, how long did you transition for?
Oh, thanks for the avatar comment - it's chocolate bon-bons - don't they look yummy? I was drooling when I first saw them, and thought - if I can't have them for real, then I'll just keep a picture I can fantasize over from time to time .

I transitoned for a year and 6 months. Long time I know...lol. I just got my own digital camera for my birthday and today I'm going to get a memory card so then I should be able to put up pics.

I can say that you can have a general idea but you won't truly know until you cut the relaxed ends off and after a few years, in all honesty. I couldn't even go off of my hair as a child completely because it was looser than it is now.
When I first joined this site, I colored my hair and my texture was significantly looser. I'm sure it had alot do with the fact that I colored(that can have a loosening affect). Then the products I used weighed the hair down.
This year, my hair is MUCH tighter than I remember it EVER being. Mostly because it's healthier(and moisturized).
Proper moisture= tighter curls
Example(taken in '04):
Hair now(picture taken within the last few months):
BIG difference, right? LOL!

Thanks, OnyxCabelo!
My routine is kept pretty simple. In that pic, I believe I co-washed with Trader Joe's Nourish Spa(I do this maybe 2-3 times a week), used Cantu Shea Butter leave in as my leave in and styler, plopped in a towel for a few minutes to get rid of the drippies, and air-dried.
I shampoo once a week(or every other week) with a non-sulfate shampoo(Elucence), but I don't all out avoid cones like the plague. I just pay attention to my hair.

Thanks for sharing!! Is the Cantu Shea butter oily feeling at all? Also, I have very wiry hair ( I guess course is the word), do you think it would be a good hold product for me? For example, I use IC gel to define my curls. I section my hair in small sections then finger comb the IC gel through. The IC gel dries a little hard so lately, I've been using long aid under it, I'd like to keep my options open though - Do you think the cantu is worth a shot or is it more for fine hair?

I don't necessarily use products with hold(because my hair will do what it wants most of the time, lol), BUT I can get second day hair with this leave in. It's not greasy at all. It's a creamy leave in(pretty thick). If your hair gets easily weighed down, you can break the thickness up by applying it to wet hands and then watering it down again before applying to your hair.
And if you are to try it, DO NOT use IC overtop, or you'll end up with those nasty looking balls all over your hair. LOL! I learned that the hard way when when I first started using it. LOL!
As for your hair feeling harder, I'd recommend using a cream-based leave in when you use IC gel. Isn't long-aid liquidy? I generally get crispier/harder feeling hair if I don't use a thick/creamy enough leave in underneath my gel.
Oh......And considering the Cantu Leave in is in a 16 oz tub and you can find it generally under 6 bucks, I think it's worth the try.

Eccentric, that is a significant difference; your ends are nice and curled up, the texture is tighter and your hair looks thicker.
