Ends are silky curls-- & top is a fro--HELP!

Hi Curlies,

I need some serious help. I've been growing out my relaxer for almost a year now (70% still relaxed). My hair is just past my shoulders and cut in 3 layers (in an attempt to reduce the relaxed hair). My hair is so curly that a relaxer never really straightened it so most people think that all of my hair is natural. It ain't. When I cowash and comb my soaking wet hair, I get S ringlets from the relaxed hair and a TWA from the natural hair at my scalp. It looks as bold as if Nadia Turner attached Rachal True's tentrals onto her afro (both are featured on the NC curl type page-------http://www.naturallycurly.com/hair-types). If you have any doubts, it's REALLY not cute.

Can anyone give me any suggestions on dealing with this texture difference short of the BC? At this point, I'm desprite enough to use a kiddie relaxer (HUGE setback that I want to resist).

Like you my relaxed hair curls just like my natural hair. Do not use a kiddie relaxer. You have come so far...do not go back to the creamy crack. There are many natural alternatives. Maybe you could try the natural laxer. It is a herbal clay mix that will soften the natural hair and the relaxed hair. In essence, it makes the transition easier. I have not tried it but a lot of people have with their transition. Just google natural laxer...but be careful there are two and one has chemicals...this one should say Baka Beautiful's Natural Laxer.

Also, have you tried braids, braid outs, kinky twist extensions, roller sets, or two-strand twisting your hair. There is so much versatility with your hair. Do not be discouraged. Just breathe and take it one day at a time. Please be gentle with your natural hair. Be cognizant that straightening the hair is not good for the curl pattern and that you should be trying styles that manipulate the relaxed hair to look like the natural hair.

Another suggestion is qhemet biologics products. They do wonderful things for the hair. The products are wonderful, all natural and work well on transitioning hair. Please check out their website before you do anything drastic. There is a hair chart on her website telling which products would work well for your hair.

Can you post a photo? I'm not good with myspace.
It would help with the suggestions.

Playing with my hair is a hobby. Fluffy, fine natural 4a. Goal= Healthy, beautiful hair that retains its length.

Hear that crash? It's me falling off the CG wagon.
Short of cutting off those ends (I had that same problem) you can do twists, twistouts, braids or braidouts. Roller sets!! I did twists and set the ends on foam rollers, it came out really nice too. Check my fotki.
