I just decided in Feb 09 that I wanted to transition so I haven't even started the hard part yet but I've been using MegaTek and have some new growth already (no a bunch but its coming). I don't want to do the BC until my NG is at the length that my hair is now and then I will cut off the relaxed it. I cut my hair 2 years ago and I was SL and I don't want to do that everrrr again.

Good luck with your transitioning ladies!!!

Hello,

Yeah i've been struggling with the question "to BC or not to BC?" and i think i've decided not to BC. Transitioning from relaxed to natural is already difficult enough...i don't think i will be able to handle short hair....idk tho cuz the ladies with their twa's look really cute, i'm just afraid i won't look so cute. But who knows

I too have decided against a BC. A few weeks ago I was all about the BC Itch but I've decided that I'm going to try and transition until the end of the year and then get rid of the rest of the damaged ends. I've been trimming the ends every week bit by bit and there's definite improvement. I just don't think a TWA is for me right now.

This thread has made me rethink or whether or not I should BC. I am not a fan of short hair but am looking forward to not having to deal with the 2 textures. About every 4 months I have cut a good amount of my hair off. But I still have 3 to 4 inches of relaxed hair in some areas. I was thinking of cutting in late May/early June, will be a year by then. Maybe I can last longer and get closer to the length I desire.

I'm not going to BC. I plan to cut off my relaxed hair next year. I decided to transition when I saw Marie1837's fotki. She transitioned for 3+ years and her hair looked great the entire time.

I just did a mini bc last Friday- (from APL to CBL). It was a lot of hair to let go of, but I was very excited about letting some of the relaxed ends go (about 3 inches)

I am happy about my move, but rocking a TWA is not an option with my features. If I do get anxious (in about 6- 12 months) I may just BC and rock full wigs or full sew ins.

my goal for transitioning is 30 months, if not longer if I can keep going. 30 months = 2 years 6 months exactly. How long is your hair, I was hoping to have at least shoulder length unstretched hair when I BC.

I don't plan to BC either. I did, however, get frustrated three weeks ago and chopped off about 4 inches of the relaxed ends. I plan to transition until Feb. of 2010 will make a full year of transitioning. Then I'll BC!

My last relaxer was 11/08. I am about 6 months in. I don't plan on BC'ing because I just don't want to rock the short style. I am having difficulty with detangling and my ends looking a mess. I think I am oging to try Miss Jessie's Curly pudding for some knot outs. I keep getting knots when I detangle.

I have been transitioning since July 2008. I have done a semi-BC. I had my hair cut into a bob. This was much easier than what I did for my first transition back in 2000. My hair was too long to transition and the relaxed ends would get tangled and was the reason I eventually got a relaxer again. Now it is so much easier to just have the bob that I shampoo and condition with Phyto. I DC once a month with Olive Oil and moisturize with DooGro growth oil and then flat iron with John Frieda heat protectant. I try to keep a real minimal approach because my hair seems to respond best to less. Now I have only about 2 inches of relaxed hair left. Soon I will be relaxer free.

Default Re:No BC for me what about you?

I am not doing the BC. I have been transitioning since December 08 (five months) so I have a ways to go. I don't look good with short hair. I had 13 inches cut off last year because of heat damage, not all at once but throughout the year. I am finding it hard to keep my new growth from frizzing up after I undo my braidouts. I have used the Proclaim gel on my new growth which slicks it down and enhances my curls but the next day I have lots of frizz. This is very annoying to me. My hair also tangles more but I've been using Cantu for my rinse out conditioner and that really helps me with detangling my hair. I wish I had a year already under my belt. Well I actually started my transition for the first time in August 08. My sister and I were going to do it together but then she changed her mind so I stopped. Everytime I think about it I get upset with myself but oh well better late than never.

Yea I don't plan on BC'ing (more power to the girls who do!) but I don't think its for me. I try to keep my hair mosturized and plan on doing braid outs before I put in a weave, then maybe some twits as a protective style.

hello ladies. cant believe i havent seen this thread i dont plan on doing the bc. my last relaxer was july 08 and i dont plan on starting mini chops until my 3 yr anniversay.
reasons being: i sorted out breakage since finding henna, i dont lose many hairs detangling and although health should take priority im afraid to say it shares its spot with length
i only have like 5 inches of relaxed hair (my hair was sooo short) so my plan is to be fully natural sometime between 2011-2012.

I'm not BC'ing either. My plan is to trim regularly and transition for 1 1/2 to 2 yrs+ because I want a decent amount f growth and I'm anticipating shrinkage. My last relaxer was early March and for the last month or so I've been on a no-heat regimen. I wash w/ shampoo or conditioner twice a week and dc after with heat cap (only heat I use). I'm am so fearful of my hair breaking at the sensitive maginot line where new growth meets relaxed hair that I use and applicator brush to apply conditioner (courtesy maneandchic.com) and did an aphogee protein treatment on Sunday.

I'm searching for the right moisture and just received a liter of giovanni direct leave-in (working well so far) and have been using coconut oil also.

I probably should get a sew-in because my hair grows like a weed under them, but I'm loving the bantu knot-outs, playing in my hair (doing too much of this) and not having to pay anyone to do my hair

I'm using my transitioning calendar to track progress and establish a regimen.

Im rethinking this whole 30 month thing. If my shrunken fro is decent length at 30 months than I'll be more than happy to bc. If not than I'll just keep going until the natural hair completely takes over the relaxed hair. I don't trim my hair(ever) so this could be a long transition. I have 6-7 inches of relaxed ends in some places and only 3 in others. hmmmmmm

Default No BC for me--buts it hard

My last relaxer was in Oct-08. My hair is about 1/2-1/2 now. Been doing CG for a month and lots of mini-Cs. Managing the two textures is very hard. I am a thick 3C ( with some 4A at the crown and 3B at the back). I have tried twists outs etc---not good. So for now I am just pulled back in a bun with a few loose curls on the side for inspiration.

I used to have a texturizing light relaxer--with very long easy wash & go curls. Then I went to a new salon and they put on a way too strong relaxer and my hair absolutely died. I must admit when I see pix of my old wash & go hair--I am tempted to go back to a light perm---

Since CG my hair feels really nice and its very thick and healthy--damage is gone---it just looks crazed.

Trying to be strong and give it more time to grow out.....but its hard!!!
