I cannot really shed light on my growth rate as this is the first time that I have tracked it. With the trims, I would say it is pretty close to the 1/2 in. per month.

As for vitamins, I take a multi-vitamin plus Vitamin C and Zinc everyday.

As I don't know which part of Germany you live in, I cannot recommend a chain. My stylist has been doing my hair since I arrived to Germany in 1999. He is Canadian. Most of my cuts with him have been good as long as my hair was relatively short (or when I had it texturized). He has always cut my hair wet.

The last mini-trim was not so successful, so I am considering flat-ironing my hair first and have him cut it dry so that I also can have a better idea of the shape while still in the salon.

My next planned trim is in June. I am finding that it is better for me to trim every 3 months versus waiting longer due to knots/split-ends.

Hi, thanks for the quick response. Im in Heidelberg. My stylist is pretty good with my hair, but Im just not sure he will give me a good curly cut. Another curly I know went to him and HATED her cut... Ive been transitioning for a little over 11 months. Ive got about 6in of curls and maybe 4 or 5 of relaxed. And, im kinda getting sick of blowdrying & flatironing it straight every week. Before I bc though, I want to get to a point where I can pull it all back in a puff or something in case I hate it. So, Im taking a flintsones multivit and GNC ultranourish hair. My hair normally grows the 1/2 in/mo, but I think the ultranourish may have kicked in since the hair on my legs is growing like crazy. I will have to wait a month or so to see if its working on my head... Thanks again & sorry this went on for so long...

Nothing to apologize for...

I had my last texturizer in August 2005. As my relaxed hair was so weak and thin, it was not a big decision for me to BC.

I had BC in 1999 when I arrived in Germany as I did not know how long it would take to find a stylist and then of course there was the product issue, not being an expat or in the military, my access to U.S.-based products was limited to what I had brought with me.

So, for me it was not a problem to wear a short curly style, and some day I may go back to it depending on how my hair looks when I start getting white hairs.

When my guy did my BC, he first followed the line of where my natural hair ended and my relaxed hair began. Then he picked it out (to afro) to check shape and adjusted from there. My tightest curls are in the back so as I was not going for a permanent short hair look, he left them longer than if I was to have a tapered cut or a fade.

From that point onward, I would see him every couple of months for a microtrim.
