I usually go by the date of my last relaxer which was the end of August - which puts me at 6 months as well. I wanted to transition until August this year, but with the way this hair is going, it might not happen.
I'm at a quirky point where I'm so happy to see and touch the natural hair and just annoyed with the relaxed ends.
I had a bit of a melt down today. My hubby thinks I'm insane
I was ready to go back to a weaves, or creamy crack or something!!! I just can't stand seeing my hair falling out in handfulls. Plus products that I used early in my transition don't work any more. I used Curly Pudding this weekend and it was like I put gum in my hair
If I see more shedding I'm probably going to do braids for a year (ie to get 12 inches of new growth). The problem with braids is that braids is that they can be addictive. Your hair always looks good and its so easy.
I'm still going to try to stick it out though...I'm going to stick to a very simple regime and see what happens....
I transistioned for 4 months before I did my BC. Had planned to do a long transistion but woke up one day and changed my mind. I think I had some breakage in the back. Not for sure but my mother kept asking me what was wrong with the back. Me, I never noticed. Overall, I didn't have much breakage and when I went to get my BC, my hairdresser commented about how my hair was in good condition and how I had done a good job keeping it in shape during the transition.
I continued to use my normal products (all KeraCare) which seem to work really good for both the new growth and as well as the relaxed hair. I used the ouchless headbands and ponytail holders to help with protective styles.
