To Braid Or Not to Braid?

Hello All!

Sorry for the Shakesparian pun

I'm 6 months into the transition and my new growth is doing well. The relaxed hair is suffering though.. I have short patches where the hair has broken off.

There is no way I can BC and rock a super short look. So I was wondering about braiding. I initially did not want to braid either.

What do guys think? I would braid untill I have a full 12 inches of curls (so about another year!!)
I think braids are cool as long as they're not too tight (especially around the edges) and the hair underneath is taken care of. I wore braids during my transition and it was good, because it was easy for me.

My cousin (a professional hair dresser) did mine, because I'm very particular about who does my hair. Since my edges are finally growing back I don't want them to be pulled out by someone who doesn't care about my hair. So, I think it would be best to tell the stylist that you do not want them very tight (just my opinion).

I also did weaves, because there is very little stress on the edges. I'm actually going to do a weave on saturday. I think it will be my last one ever though, because I'm just trying to grow my hair to a length where I am comfortable enough to wear it out. We shall see lol.

yes
braids are good
i'm getting some this summer
Have you considered bunning or twist? Weaves and wigs are some great options.Braids aren't really the best solution. Synthetic hair rubbing against your own natural locks that you're trying to repair....?

Braids arent bad, but dont get them plaited tight. I have some corn rows in at the moment and I want to keep them in until the 28th march. Like i said in another post, the breakage is really getting to me, so i figure if i keep it plaited i wouldnt have to deal with it.

Also, I decided once I BC in April if I don't like my TWA, I will braid my hair until it grows at least 8 inches or more. I think your idea is great and we might have to start a braid-out challenge!

I am planning to get some braids this summer as well. I think their a good idea because you won't have to worry about doing anything to your hair. Plus my sister had her hair braided and it really helped her hair to grow. And like everyone else is saying just don't get them braided too tight.
Thank you ladies!

i really don't want to watch all of my hair fall out. Hopfully I can make up my mind before that happens

I visited a shop yesterday. The stylist recommended that I BC. I told her that I was not ready and wanted to get a good but cut off and then braid the rest. She was not happy with that. I think I need to visit some others
