Default This Really Sucks......

So I've been relaxing for 10 years and recently decided to go curly. Well I'm noticing the diff in MY texture vs. the Relaxed texture. I have 3B curls and the relaxer pretty much takes 80% of curl out. It's so sad... Why did It take me so long to reallize that MY hair is beautiful as is, and I don't need to get relaxers in the first place? I have like 3 or 4 inches of natural hair and the rest is relaxed (shoulder length). I'm so tempted to do the BC but I just can't let go of my hair that easy. I've been wantin to grow my waist length hair back. I got it cut last July because it was really damaged. There's going to be a long road ahead of me...

Have patience...it will be worth it! There is a ton of information here and I am happy to share any tips that I have discovered and sites where you can order products in Europe from Germany

We are victims of society. Make sure you condition and teat your hair right.

Default Hello Ms. Newbie!

I totally understand where you are coming from Curlyblasian! I gather from your username that your are of "mixed race", right? Possibly asain and black? Well, I am "mixed race" woman of color too, if you are. I have natural 3b curls that for years had been hiden under so many relaxers. I had transitioned more than once before I finally decided to be totally free of relaxers and accept my hair the way that God naturally made it to be. I owe so much to this site and its members helping on my hair journey. If weren't for NC, I would have been totally clueless on how to take care of my hair in its natural state at all! Also, I wouldn't have never finally ended up getting all the way through transitioning as well with all the curly love that was shown to me!

I am here to support you all the way, and you can even personally email anytime with any questions or concerns that you may have!

I currently use Curls products in my hair, but I have at other times throughout my hair journey used countless products from so many differrent lines, so I am definitely very familiar with most of the lines that are out there that are geared towards curly hair!

I am mixed too and have been gettin relaxers for years. Since going natural I have noticed a difference in texture also...I think I assumed that the way my hair would curl while I had a relaxer in...(when I chose not to blow dry)...was the actual way my hair was supposed to look, tight little ringlets..but I am noticing that the texture in the part of my hair where the relaxer has grown out..is actually a little looser. I do remember seeing pictures of when I was little before I ever relaxed and my curls were softer..looser...I don't mind, I can't wait till all the relaxer is gone to see what it really looks like. Is that really possible? Why would the curls in my hair where the relaxer still is be tighter than the curls in the natural part?? You guys would probably know!!

Back on Cones,so now my routine is,wash with Deva No-Poo every other day or so. Occasionally use 365 sulfate free, maybe use low sulfate shampoo mixed with conditioner once every two weeks are longer. I condition with Aussie Moist or HEHH. I style with a little GF TN,and finish up with tons of GN Pure Clean Smoothing Cream. No frizz...slippy, happy hair.
