Devacurl Questions

I just started using DevaCurl and I love the results. The only problem is my fullness disappears throughout the day and my hair is a little frizzy. (I believe I have 3a curly hair, I have loose corkscrew curls.) Am I doing something wrong? Is there a hairspray type product that will control my frizz and hold these awesome curls? I've tried using generic no silicone or sulfate products but after a while my hair just stopped responding. These Devacurl products are great but I am not 100% convinced yet. Any suggestions?

I posted two pictures. One from right before I washed my hair with Devacurl (the one where I am wearing a t-shirt), and one today using Devacurl (the one where I am wearing a hoodie.)

A lot of us start out with Deva, think we like it and then move on to other products. My salon carries Deva, since they changed the ingredients, I won't even let them use the NoPoo on my hair. I found it very drying. It took days for me to get my hair back to normal.

At those prices, there's a lot of other products you can try.

Which DevaCurl products did you buy?

I've tried lots of products and every so often I do return to DevaCurl (used One Condition and my sample of AnGell today). My favorite Deva product to lock out frizz is the Set It Free (works on wet or dry hair), which I find controls frizz better than AnGell, but I hope you can get the results you want with whatever products you bought.

My philosophy is if I can't get results with 1 or 2 products after cleansing, including my leave-in (many curlies are willing to layer on more products than that, but I won't do that regularly), and I've tried different application and styling techniques, then those are not the products for me.

FYI, my favorite non-Deva product is Alba Botanica Soft Hold Style Cream. I do a completely different routine with this product than I do when I use gel or SIF.
Formerly Urbancurl.
Medium-high density, fine-medium, low-normal porosity, 3b/c, permanent color.
CG, no heat, combs, brushes, parabens.
Fall/Winter HG=Alba Botanica Soft Hold Style Cream.
Spring/Summer HG=MGA Sculpting Gel
Current fave LI=Madre Labs Made by Nature for Baby Conditioner.
Limit oils, butters, glycerin.
I started using Deva and thought I loved it... but I just tried Kinky Curly Curling Custard. It's so much better for my hair and the hold is ridiculous. It keeps the curls in place and the frizz down. Now I'm trying to figure out what to do with the rest of the Deva stuff!

I completely agree, though. The DC One Conditioner and Heaven In Hair are great.

Products loving my hair:
Co-Wash/LI/RO: DC One Condition
Gel: KCCC, BC Curl Enhancing Cream, DC AnGel

Moisture loving, oil and protein hating (though it tolerates some in products).
I think it looks great!

The only thing I've found that works for root volume is a thick styling cream, usually in mens haircare. A real thick one, used sparingly at the roots. Works well to hold curls too if you scrunch a tiny bit in.

Also a dry shampoo or Got 2 Be volumizing powder. Its in a small purple and silver tube like bottle. Comes in a box. Works great.

I also used to love Set it Free by Deva.
