Default My hair is making progress!

I started CG 2 weeks ago and while I still have bad hair days, I can see and feel that my hair is happier.

Here's my info for those of you using the mobile app

2B/2C. Medium/coarse texture, high porosity, low elasticity, normal density.

Lo-Poo: Burt's Bees Pomegranate Shampoo
CO-Wash: Suave Naturals Clarifying Co
RO: Tresemme Naturals Nourishing Moisture Co
LI: Regis Design Line Olive Oil Leave In
Styler: Herbal Essences Set Me Up Gel

I CO-wash and use my RO and styler every other day, but I'm only using the OO LI every other time I wash because my hair was getting a little gunky (so I use the LI every 4 days). After each wash, I scrunch dry with a t-shirt and use a fresh t-shirt to plop for 20-30 minutes. I haven't diffused or super soaked or anything like that yet, just the basics thus far. I've been taking pictures almost every day and I'm going to post some to share my progress, because I'm getting kind of excited!

Day 1

Regular routine, minus LI and plopping

Day 3

Regular routine, minus plopping

Day 5

Regular routine

Day 7

Regular routine, 2nd time in 4 days I had used the OO LI
Day 8 (2nd day hair)

Weird hair behavior - completely straight until the last 4 inches or so and very gunky feeling. My hair wasn't liking the OO LI!

Day 11

Regular routine, extremely humid day

Day 14 (today)

Regular routine. Very humid today, so I used the OO LI, but I didn't plop. It looks very frizzy, but it's much improved and I have more defined curls, and it just FEELS healthy and clean!

So, there is definitely progress as far as the frizziness & curl definition. I think that I might be a 3A some day. I have my eye out for a good LI because the OO LI is a bit too heavy for my hair. Everything else feels good, other than the fact that I have to use a LOT of the Suave condish for CO-washing to make it actually feel clean!

I got the CG book on Saturday in the mail and I'm about half way through. It's actually kind of fun to read.

So, that's my story! I can't wait to post before and after pictures. The first two pictures in this post are pretty scary, so the before/after pics will hopefully be impressive.

You can always just use some of your rinse-out conditioner a leave-in. Normally I suggest Cure Care from Sally's as an awesome leave-in, but if your hair is medium-coarse in texture the protein might not agree with your hair. The other leave-in I like is As I Am (also at Sally's).

BTW, your hair is already looking great!

Thanks for the tips! There is a Sally's a couple towns over, so I may have to make a trip there and see what I can find.

I was a little confused while reading the CG book... I couldn't decide whether I'm a botticelli or a wavy, and I started to second guess my routine since the book recommends a different routine for wavys. I'm happy I decided to stick to it since I'm already seeing progress! Even the shine factor is better.

Thank you, proudcurlygirly! My boyfriend has even noticed a difference and he's pretty oblivious to 'girly' things like hair and makeup. He liked my curly hair before, but the frizz drove him crazy because it tickled his nose. :P
