Default clarifying shampoo?

I want to try the curly girl method, but I read that I need to use a clarifying shampoo with sulfates but without silicones before i cut out shampoo altogether.
since the only shampoos i have are loaded with silicones, i'll have to buy something new. any recommendations? i really want something cheap because i wont be using it very often afterwards, lol.

thanks.

2b/c thick, long hair.

edit: are these ingedients okay?

Methylchloroisothiazolinone, Methylisothiazolinone

or are they silicones?
because i was thinking of just getting suave naturals shampoo.

I'm almost positive those ingredients are OK. My understanding is that cones say "cone" on the end like dimethicone or cyclomethicone. Also you want to avoid anything with petroleum jelly or lanolin because they block moisture.

Good luck - I hope it works well for you.

Those long -one ingredients are preservatives. Silicones end in -cone, -xane, and -conol.

Lanolin is ok, it's a natural wax and though it is emollient, it doesn't block moisture like silicones, and it's easier to wash off. It's rarely in any significant amount anyway.

Petroleum jelly should be avoided. It's very hard to wash off. Mineral oil is ok though.

For shampoo, you can get cheap ones for a less than $5, like Suave and VO5 and the conditioners are really popular for CO washing too.. The Organix shampoo also works well, though a bit pricier..
