Default Baking soda and vinegar?

Has anyone tried just using this on their hair instead of shampoo and conditioner? I've heard your hair goes through some funky stages before sorting itself out, but it's supposed to make it more manageable and volumous (not that any of us probably need a ton of volume lol).

It seems that you aren't supposed to do it everyday, though. Just like once or twice a week, which is usually what I do anyways....I wet my hair down everyday, but I only shampoo once or twice a week. I do usually use some conditioner on the ends each time I wet it.

I haven't tried this just because I'm a bit afraid of it.
I don't know how good vinegar can be for my hair and I'm not sure if I should try this.
But I have heard that it's really good for one's hair.

Vinegar is great for the hair. But baking soda can be damaging if overused. Depending on the concentration, it can be more damaging than sulfates. I found that most of the recipes online were quite strong. I'd recommend only 1 tsp baking soda per cup water, or less. Because it can be harsh and drying, baking soda is best for a clarifying wash rather than for every wash. And be sure you use a vinegar rinse afterwards. Better to err on the side of acidity with hair.

I have used apple cider vinegar to wash my hair before and it works wonders! What I find is to just use the vinegar (apple cider vinegar is better for hair then distilled and is more natural) once or twice a week and only condition the other days. This is basically like a deep cleaning session for your hair. It's more natural then shampoo, but really gets everything out. It's great for washing out hair masks or hot oil treatments, or if your hair is just grease-prone.

I would not mess around with that stuff. I used it on my hair and it immediately started to shed. The majority of my dyed hair came out. So do research. With the right measurements it will work well. Wrong, you end up bald.

It's worth a shot, I think. It works differently for everyone. I know some people who swear by it, but I'm on week #4 and I'm feeling like my 3a/b curls are lacking the luster and texture they once had. Then again, I haven't been using vinegar with it. Tomorrow is my wash day so I'm going to wash with baking soda and then rinse with ACV and THEN condition, but I'm also worried that the ACV and conditioner will have a reverse effect and dry my hair out further. I think it kind of depends on your hair and it's worth experimenting.
