Default Who combs?

So I've tried again and again but I cannot not comb/brush my hair after the shower. If I don't, my hair is super tangled even if I wide tooth comb in the shower.

I'm a 3a/3b

Anyone else have this problem?

If I apply product and/or rinse upside down, I have to comb or brush when I straighten up. Otherwise I end up with a tangled matted mess. I've started using my Denman to distribute product and brush out the tangles in the shower, and if my curls start to get stringy, I'll add in palmfuls of water Super Soaker style to reform them. Then I carefully blot my curls (no plopping). If I need to, I'll do the Denman/Super Soaker again at the sink to detangle and get my clumps back.

i kinda have this as well. if i comb then i just get fizz n breakage n my clumps all break apart n stuff. so what ive been doing is finger detangling in or just after the shower so i can carefully pick my knots apart

I comb with a wide tooth comb and brush with a Denman with no issues. After shampoo and conditioning or spritzing, I can comb even with a smaller tooth comb with ease. It may be the products you are using as well. A comb shouldn't break your hair after detangling.

I sometimes comb and I sometimes don't, but my hair looks a lot better when I don't use a comb. When I do comb, my hair has more frizz and my curls aren't as defined. When I don't comb I just detangle it with my fingers in the shower and it's way less frizzy and more defined. The only reason I ever use a comb is if it's extremely tangled and I can't get all the knots out without combing.

Best comb to use is the tangle teezer. I use to have the same problem. One day I washed my hair and could not comb it out. I put every conditioner I had in it. And still couldn't comb it. Finally I used the tangle teezer I bought for my 12 year old. I was wonderful. You can buy it from Sally's, or amazon.com. I only use conditioner with a lot of slip. Giovanni smooth as silk is wonderful. It makes your knots melt. Send me your email address and I can refer you to vitacost an online store. They give you a 10 dollar coupon which you can use towards your first purchase. You can sample this conditioner at a lower price. Because it is a bit pricey in stores.

I definitely comb after the shower. I'm sure to have a substantial amount of conditioner in my hair when I'm combing. I use the wider toothed side of the comb starting at the ends then i comb with the fine toothed part to get the hair as smooth as possible.

I either finger-comb my hair and that's it... or I finger-comb and THEN use my Ouidad double detangler. My hair seems fine with either one.

I'm a 2C.

i second the mention of the super soaker method. you may want to check it out in the techniques sticky thread. there's even a video. i've had luck using a fine toothed comb with this method.

I finger comb most of my hair in the shower with my RO and then I detangle with a wide tooth comb from the ends up with a bit of conditioner after my shower. I use my fingers to sort of aid the comb and detangle the easier strands. Sometimes I feel like I don't need any sort of detangler if I use a good RO Wich is weird considering how damaged my hair is.

I do! I comb upside down, while my hair is soaked with conditioner, then I finger-comb when I am upright and add my stylers (gel, oil, etc.) Works like a charm!
