I see a lot of people here talking about either co-washing or no shampoo. As a guy the no shampoo is a hard sell. I tend to go with shampoos meant to restore thickness because us guys are hardwired to think we'll lose our hair. I've thinned some at 40 but I also had a lot to lose and still have a lot as it is. However, I'm glad that seven years ago I came around to enjoying having curls. Maybe it took the reality of seeing other guy friends and acquaintances lose theirs.

Hmm. You know there's organic shampoos ment to restore thickness as well. Sulfate and all that free!

Shea moisture has a thickening shampoo. That's the only one i know someone has personally used. And they loved it. (My best guy friend, also with curls.) I believe it's the Yucca one!

Thanks, is it something that can be easily purchased at say Target or WalMart, etc.? Or is it a special order?

They sale it at the Walgreens i work at. Depends on where you live. Target, Walgreens, Cvs, and sometimes Walmart is a carrier.

I went to the Walgreens where I live earlier today. I saw two Shea Moisture bottles but neither said "Yucca" on it. One was a moisterizing shampoo and the other a curl enhancer cream. Would that be the one by chance? My goodness, I might have to hire you as my beauty consultant.

The ones you saw are likely the Raw Shea Butter Moisture Retention shampoo, and Curl Enhancing Smoothie (a styler from the Coconut and Hibiscus Curl and Shine line). The Yucca and Baobab shampoo bottle looks like this:

I don't recall seeing that product but I could be wrong. I did, however, see the others you mentioned. Any others you'd recommend? I'm a 2b/2c.

i use the shea moisture for thick curly hair. I purchased this one for my SO. he refuses to use it. so, i can't tell you how great it is, but it smells a bit like baby shampoo. He apparently doesn't want his hair to get curlier. I'd like to try it myself, but i need no help in that department.

The shea moisture works very well, but i still use a stronger shampoo (trader joes) every 2 weeks or so.

I don't need any help on the curly part either and wouldn't mind if it made it curlier. To me its abot maintaining thickness because as I guy, I have a built in fear of hair loss.
