Default Question about going CG again

I tried CG for a month about a year ago and my hair was not getting any better. It actually seemed like my waves/curls were getting limper. My hair became very oily and itchy, so I started using a low poo, it helped but it seems to make my hair dry, now I really want to try CG again. My question is, is there anyway to get rid of the oily scalp and itchiness. Do you think it could have been like that because I wasn't scrubbing my scalp enough? I didn't use any sulfates or silicones when I was CG. Also I've been debating on buying the Curly Girl book, is it worth it or is there enough stuff online that I don't need the book?

Shampooing or clarifying the hair is different from cleansing or exfoliating the scalp. Try using a separate shampoo just for your oily scalp.

All of the curly methods, such as the CG way, require at least 5 month commitment before seeing physical results. Also, it's good to start with 2-3 key things that you will observe along the way to measure the change.

Thanks for the advice. I'm not even sure if my scalp is naturally oily, I think it may have just been I wasn't cleaning my hair well enough because today I co-washed and made sure I really cleaned my scalp and it's not oily or itchy which usually when I co-wash it is.

I'm going to stick it out and take pictures of my hair each month to see if I can notice a difference.
