Default So what's the general consensus on amodimethicone?

So I've heard from some sources that it's a "safe", CG friendly cone, and from others that it's just as bad as any cone. From personal experience, pre-CG it was the only cone I had luck with in a conditioner. I'm mod CG. I low-poo or use a sulfate free shampoo bar about 3 times a week, and in between that I cowash or use a cleansing conditioner. If I were to use a conditioner that has the a-cone in my rotation, would I be ok? What are your experiences with the a-cone

If you do a search for "amodimethicone," you'll find a lot of threads about it.

Lowpoo will remove it. Natural soap/shampoo bars (saponified oils) will not.

I have no issues with rotating amodimethicone into my routine. I consider it one of the "less evil" silicones (only cyclo-cones are less evil because they evaporate off of the hair during the drying process, and of course I don't consider the water-soluble stuff evil at all). It doesn't build up like some of the other cones can, but you will still need a cleanser with coco betaine to remove it (just to make sure you're getting moisture into your hair). Since it doesn't build up, you technically wouldn't need to use coco betaine every time you cleanse, just as you feel you need it.

Good question. I wonder about this myself sometimes...I still have a bottle of B&B prep under my sink that I refuse to get rid of, though I never use it lol. Amodimethicone is the only cone in it and I low poo, but I'm just wary of all cones. I've been brain washed that they are evil lol
