Help pretty please

My hair is out of control so am thinking about doing things this way. The problem? I can't identify my hair type, don't know what kind of products to use, and can't spend a ton of money trying new things (I'm broke these days). I will highlight what applies to me..

Type 3B- People with type 3b hair have well-defined, springy, copious curls that range from bouncy ringlets to tight corkscrews. 3b curls are Sharpie size in circumference. Type 3b hair can be straightened, but it definitely takes some work. GeType 3b hair generally isnít particularly shiny, and its texture can be quite coarse.

Type 3a- curls show a definite loopy "S" pattern. Curls are well-defined and springy, as well as naturally big, loose and often very shiny. 3a curls' circumference are sidewalk-chalk size. Generally, this hair type can be easily straightened, but is very much affected by the climate.

A picture of my unruly impossible hair

Sometimes it's small ringlets like this, other times they are bigger and more wavy. I'm sure it's because I'm using the wrong products currently (hence the wanting to switch). So in short, what kind of hair do I have? What products work best? What do you do with your hair that is like mine? I am so clueless! My current routine is not working and my hair might start looking ok, but quickly the curls get frizzy and out of control. I get so frustrated I just pull it back into a ponytail every day it seems.
Hi Steph, I know you said you don't have a ton of money these days (who does LOL) but looking at your hair, to be perfectly honest, I think it needs some layers cut in so it will fall a little better.

I actually think you have a very pretty curl pattern, and a very warm lovely color. You are probably mostly 3a with some 3b mixed in, but I'm not an expert at hair typing.

I hope some of the other curlies can give you ideas for products. You might give them a head start by mentioning what products you are currently using and what your styling technique is. Don't lose heart - there is a very pretty head of curls there - it just needs a little coaxing!
2/c and some 3A. Modified CG.
Protein sensitive
Highly porous. Color over grey.
Best 1st day method: Super Soaker
Conditioners: Curl Junkie Beauticurls Strengthening Conditioner,
Deep condish: Curl Junkie Curl Rehab
Stylers: Mix Curls in a Bottle into everything for shine. Terrible pj
Sometimes try roller sets - classic glamor but I prefer my curls.
Every day is a gift
I will get it cut once I figure out what all I need to get started. It is laying funky because I have had it pulled up in a pony tail for the last 6 days (but it does need to be cut again) Right now I'm using regular shampoo and conditioner, with garnier fructis curl sculpting cream gel which I will not be using once I switch over since it contains dimethicone. I am basically starting from scratch, but don't know what all I need to do and buy to get started.

What conditioner for the shower?
What leave in conditioner or styling cream or gel?
Method that works best to keeping the curls all day?
