Product-free: Is it possible?
Has anyone been successful at being product-free with the CG method? I did my "last" clarifying wash today and used 'cone-free conditoner, as the book describes. I understand it can take a few weeks for hair to become healthy and settle into its natural state. I'm wondering if it's possible to do without styling products. My hair is so much softer, has more body and wave, and dries so much faster if I don't put any products in. But will the frizz improve as my hair becomes healthier?
Thanks!

Definitely possible.
My hair looks great product free for about half the day; unfortunately, after that point, it begins to de-clump and degenerate into awful frizz. But everyone has different hair.
If your hair is already softer from cutting sulfates, it's a bit difficult to tell though. There are many different types of frizz, caused by a variety of things, including humidity, over-conditioning, dryness, curl separation, static, etc.
For some people, the "frizz" (in a lot of case, it's just unclumped, undefined curls) disappears with CG though. Oh yes, and keep in mind that even the technique you use in the shower can affect your results, not just the products you leave on afterward. For example, I get more definition in the back if I scrunch upside down.

I'm doing the friction washing (with water only) daily, and cowashing twice a week. I wonder how long it will take for my hair's natural oils to do their job?

bringingcurliesback, how long did it take before your hair started behaving? My hair feels so much better--lighter and softer--but it's frizzy and has no curl definition. I've been doing this 5 or 6 days. If I comb it after it dries, the fuzz goes away somewhat, but I know it's not good to comb it much.

Not sure this is as concise of an answer as you would wish, but it can take as long as six to nine weeks to show results from CG.
This is just a guess from me, but it appears that your hair needs some help in the frizz department from a product. The good news is, if you don't feel like going through the long styling process, there are ways to conditioner style or simply style quickly in the shower.
Are you just getting "frizz" or are you getting curl separation? That determines what product you should use. While this thread may seem kind of ridiculous, it will definitely help you in your quest to eliminate frizz.

Dunno if this answer can help or not. But have you tried a natural gel for the frizz? Like aloe vera(heyfranhey) or flax seeds(naptural85).
Now for going product-free I plan to do this in the new year. No more commercial products for anything on my hair, skin, or face. Since the question is about hair I plan to pre-poo with olive oil, wash with clay (bentonite or rhassoul), and moisturize & seal with grapeseed oil, shea butter, and castor oil on a weekly basis.

So what are your plans for sunscreen for your face/skin?

Or I would just add a little zinc oxide to whatever moisturizer I've made at the time for sun protection.

CG was causing my frizz, it took a while to realize, but no my hair did not improve as it got "healthier" because it did not get healthier. Now that I'm back to sulfates and cones, the only product I use is Moroccanoil. My hair is miles better than it was.
