Default cheap conditioner for washing followed by better one for ends?

Sorry if this info is here somewhere but I'm having trouble finding it. When co-washing, do you use a cheap product like VO5 conditioner on roots, then rinse and use a better moisturizing conditioner on the ends while showering, then rinse that off? Then, for me, I'd usually follow with a leave-in conditioner and styling product.
thanks

I use a cheap one for my entire head. Rinse all out then leave in a better one on entire head. For me the less steps the better.

Yes, I do the bold but don't rinse the second cond out. I just squeeze out the excess water after the shower is finished...and a lot of the conditioner goes out w/ it.

What i do is use vo5 or suave conditioner (a lot of this stuff) for my whole head and massage my scalp. I rinse out completely. After that i use a high end conditioner for my ends (majority of my hair) but i use less product. I let it soak. I use bed head moisture maniac or self absorbed but i don't think they are selling it anymore. anyways I wait 5 mintues or so and then splash alot of water in my hair as i squish it up towards my scalp. I dont rinse it all out i leave some in. then its ready for styling. sorry for the really long explanation!!

I don't use cheapie conditioner it just wasn't moisturizing enough for me. Idk i use SheaMoisture co-wash for the roots & organix coconut milk condish or Giovanni SAS for the ends. I rinse all this out and follow with a leave-in.
