Shampoo bar?
I use a shampoo bar on my hair along with ACV, does this still make me a CG? Here are the ingredients of the shampoo bar. I am a soap maker so these are of my own design and work well on my hair but want to know if this falls into the CG rules or not. Thanks in advance.
Cold Process soap shampoo bar: A saponified blend of Coconut oil, Olive oil, Castor oil, Palm oil, Jojoba oil, Cocoa butter, meadow foam oil, distilled water, Sweet Orange Essential oil, Nettles. |
I too am a soaper! But the whole premise behind curly girl method is no sulphates or silicones so I'd say you are curly girl as long as there are none of the aforementioned ingredients in your conditioner and or styling products.

When shampoo/soap bars were popular in '08, there was a lot of discussion about this. I always considered myself "modified" CG because I used the bars to cleanse and didn't cowash.
Not sure it matters what you call yourself--as long as it works for you. |
I tried using shampoo bars when I first started making cold process soap and my hair HATES it. But it's VERY thick and coarse and I can't detangle.

Thank you Kathymack, do you still use a shampoo bar? I love mine. I would have it no other way!=]

Thank you CurleeAngel
I love your name BTW. I hated shampoo bars to the first several years tring to master them and my hair is thick fine and very tangly. As I am nearing the 40 year mark my hair has thined some. I finally have a great shampoo bar that works for me and my family who all have mostly long hair. At first my shampoo bars were horrible lol, I guess you just gotta find that blend that works best for you tweaking all the way till it becomes more and more perfect.:thumbleft:

I may need to revisit the shampoo bar. Maybe research ingredients to add slip. In the past it made my already coarse hair even thicker.
