over 1 year CG- Disaster has struck

I have been CG/Modified CG for well over a year now. In the winter I'll usually co-wash with suave or down under naturals then use Tressemme Naturals as my rinse out and style with kinky curly knot today and LA Looks.

This summer I started using low sulfate shampoo because I sweat a lot and between working out and the hot summer air my scalp felt gross. Now I'm trying to go back to co-washing and my hair is dry, stringy and frizzy. Did my hair get used to the sulfates again? I was using Giovanni shampoos and am worried that I lost a whole year of hard work and need to start all over again!

help!

Also...3B hair.

Thanks!
Welcome!

What are your hair properties and dew points/ humidity?

Kinky Curly Knot Today is not a 'true' conditioner, ingredients wise it's more of a detangler, perhaps that routine is no longer conditioning enough for your hair after sulphates. You might try using the Tresemme as your leave in conditioner since you have it anyway.

Which Giovanni were you using and did you clarify away any silicones or polyquats?
2a-2c, medium texture, porous/ colour treated. Three years CG. Past bra strap length heading for waist.

CO-wash: Inecto coconut/ Elvive Volume Collagen
Treatments: Komaza Care Matani, coconut/ sweet almond/ fractionated coconut oils, Hairveda Sitrinillah
Leave in: Fructis Sleek & Shine (old), Gliss Ultimate Volume, various Elvive
Styler: Umberto Giannini jelly, Au Naturale styling gelee
Flour sack towel, pixie diffuse or air dry.
Experimenting with: benign neglect
Low porosity, but high density. In terms of humidity and dew point, Ive tried to figure out what that means for my hair, but all I can say is that I live in a city where it is very hot and humid in the summer and very very very cold and dry in the winter.

I use KKNT as my leave in but yeah, might start trying to just keep it with the Tressemme especially since KKNT isn't sold in stores in my city as it is.

I was using the Giovanni Smooth as Silk, now it's run out and im in this co-washing nightmare and wearing a bun everyday. its like my hair doesn't want to clump together at all.

Frusterated!!!
G SaS shouldn't have sulfates, but it might have protein?

I've used Giovanni poos and consider them fairly gentle, nothing that should have really ruined your hair. If your hair is coarse it may be that it didn't like the protein in SaS, but that's nothing that a bit of TLC and some moisturizing conditioners shouldn't be able to cure.

You might consider a richer rinse-out conditioner and/or leave-in... I think I've seen good reviews for the YestoBlueberries conditioner (drugstore) or Darcy's Botanicals Pumpkin, Elucence Moisture Balancing, or quite a few Curl Junkie or SheScentIt conditioners (curlmart or individual websites).
2BC/f/II. fine - low/normal porosity - medium density - normal elasticity.

Currently using:
Cowash: Cure Care diluted with water 1:1
RO: Cure Care, V05 Kiwi Lime
Styler: UFD CM (old formula), FSG + CNPF
PT: IAgirl's gelatine

Experimenting with: CeraVe Foaming as low-poo, gelatin gel

light moisture, hydrolized protein, jelly stylers
guar hydroxypropyltrimonium chloride, sulfates
Neutral on cones.

For those sort of weather conditions the advice is generally to limit the major humectants, tho that is much less of an issue for low porosity hair compared with high porosity. Are you sure you are currently low porosity? The DIY test have been debunked.

Problem solved. It hadn't rained in Toronto in weeks at the height of my hair problems, and once it started raining the dryness dissipated. I'm now using Not My Mothers- Long and Strong sulfate free once a week and back to my normal co-washing all other times. Today we are at 100% humudity and its scorching hot, but thats all supposed to break on Friday when we enter cold, fall temps. I love my hair in the fall!

Thanks for all the help!
