Default A little help with routine

Hi guys,

Well, after my initial thoughts of being unsure if this method is for me or not I'm more and more convinced everyday that it IS for me. My hair seems to be coping very well. It's quite shiny, getting softer, less frizzy.

I'm just wondering if people can explain their routine for me? I'm currently co-washing every day. I feel like my hair needs the conditioning but I don't understand the process, do you have to co wash everyday? Can you condition without co washing? I just don't quite understand the process and when and where the steps fall into place. I'm not sure when to do my protein treatment or my deep conditioner treatment, or how often to do those, or whether I should just be conditioning daily instead of co washing every day, so it would be really helpful to hear others routines so I've gt a starting point and understand the whole co washing process.

Many thanks

You should cleanse when your hair is dirty or needs detangling, there is no one size fits all schedule. Wetting damages hair so ideally not daily, if your hair is feeling dry by day two consider adjusting your routine.

I condition daily to detangle but cleanse every other to every third day depending on how my hair feels.
I will do a quick scrub with a shampoo brush daily. I typically cowash but will use a low poo occasionally. I just used a shampoo bar followed with acv rinse which I havent done in a while as I havent been happy with my curls.
My hair needs a lot of protein so I use protein daily and do a stronger protein treatment weekly. Depending on the treatment, I may need a moisture treatment after.
Just have to experiment with your hair and see what it likes. This may also change over time. I had normal hair for a long time then lost most of it and it regrew very fine so had to learn all over what my hair wanted.

Not everyone needs to do the same thing. It's all individual and you learn a lot by trial and error. Reading and learning will help you understand a little more about why your hair needs what. Knowing your hair properties will also help you know the "why." Here's a link to help you with that Curly Hair Basics | Live Curly Live Free The e-book that's available there is a good investment. All the information in one place.

I wet, use a rinse out and style every day. I'm older, so don't have an oily scalp. I've used natural soap bars to cleanse since they were really popular on nc.com around five years ago. They've since fallen out of favor. My hair has always satiated on product--even back in my shampoo/conditioner only days. I rotate products. Seldom using any one product more then once every five days, if that.
