Apart from amodimethicone, silicones that are water soluble tend to have PEG before them.

As Blueblood says water soluble silicones are prefixed PEG-. Amodimethicone is not water soluble but it does resist building up, as do other amine functionalised silicones.

It really is up to you how strict you want to be with the Curly Girl method. To me the 'spirit' of it is avoiding build up of silicones (and arguably other ingredients that build up or cause frizz), and not relying on silicones for a conditioning effect (using other ingredients with overlapping properties, such as natural oils).

I doubt anyone on the forums knows the properties of every silicone by heart: I recommend you read the excellent articles by 'curl chemist' Tonya McKay. She has written about seven articles on silicones, all posted on the main NC site and easy to find via Google.

HTH!

Am I correct in saying ones that also have PPG in front of them are too water-soluble? (Please say yes!)
