What did you learn from the Curly Girl Challenge?
I started using the Curly Girl method over 3 1/2 years ago. A lady walked up to me in New York and asked if my hair was naturally curly and reccomended the 1st book. I read it cover to cover in one day and was amazed at what I learned, once I started the CG method I never looked back. In reading Curly Girl I found out using sulfates totally wrecks curly hair. At the time I had limp, frizzy, dull unhealthy hair. The only way to make it look decent at that point was to use a flat iron which gave me dry yucky split ends on top of everything else. Yikes!!! It also didn't help having stylists that were really anti-curly. Boy to find the first picture I dug through my old pictures and found when I was un-curly girl, I was a mess back then!!!!
How has it changed your hair?
Wow all you have to do is look at my first picture before I went curly girl to my current picture. In my first picture my hair was straightened, limp frizzy and unhealthy. Now after being curly girl for 3 years its awsome!!! I LOVE my hair now, I get complements all the time!!! Its healthy, soft, shiny, and fun!!! I don't have to worry about humidity or bad hair days. Once my curls got healthy again they got curlier, more defined and the frizz was gone. Infact it is so healthy I was even able to put blond and carmel highlights in with no bad effects!!! My hair dresser even asked to borrow the book because she noticed such a big differance in my hair. I love my hair now, I am sold.
