For a very long time, I considered my life to be an ongoing curly girl challenge, a chemistry class (egad) that I just couldn't pass. Then my curly sister-in-law introduced me to something called Deva and, cliche as it may sound, my days really haven't been the same since. Consistency wasn't something I could count on before Deva - now, when I have different curly experiences, it's because I choose to. A little One Condition left in the hair before Arc AnGell creates slightly tighter curls. A thorough rinse and a full air-dry gives me soft, fat, fluffy curls. Deva has shown me that my hair doesn't control me, it's a part of me. And I like it. Love it.
How has it changed your hair?
Non-curlies are typically unable to recognize any differences in a curly girl's curl formation. To them, you've got curls and you're darn lucky. But to a curly girl, the sweet springs can sometimes feel like Medusa's spawn - they can take on a life of their own which can sometimes lead to really regretful in-the-moment scissor decisions. Now, I know my hair as well as I know myself (which, depending on the day might not be that well, but I digress). When I flip my head up, I know just how my hair is going to look when it dries. I know which curls are going to be especially curly and which are going to need some coaxing. I've been on a curly girl journey for about five years and my hair has only gotten better with time. The Deva products have given me knowledge and confidence in whatever is swirling out of my scalp. Knowledge IS power - while every day now is a good curly day, on the especially shiny, fluffy, days of perfection, I am a superhero. I am Curly Girl and I can rule my world.
