lushaholic, Before and After

What did you learn from the Curly Girl Challenge?

I learned that if I stopped using harsh sulfates, heavy silicones and other damaging ingredients, and replace them with curl-friendly ones that actually moisturize my hair, I can actually get curls instead of frizz!
How has it changed your hair?
I never embraced my waves and curls before because I didn't really know that I had them. I was too busy straigtening and brushing my hair that I was killing the natural curl that was there. Whenever I would decide to not brush my hair after washing, I would just have a mangled bush that I couldn't do anything with. But I now realize that was just because I didn't know how to take care of it and encourage the curl I had. Another huge thing is that I always dreaded washing my hair because of all the tangles involved. I had literally broken combs trying to detangle my hair and it would take 30 minutes or more just to try and comb through all of it. I had tried every conditioner, or so I thought. After using Devacurl I can practically glide my fingers through my hair while it's wet. I almost cried I was so happy! I have finally learned to embrace my natural curls and waves!
