My son and his curls

Well his hair is very curly but I had to go to the salon and have them take a little off the top b/c his hair was growing awkward. I love his curls and so far I just use a rat tail comb and virgin coconut oil to help with the sheen, but other than that, I have no natural curl products to use on his hair. I've been told that the curl products help lock the curls in but I can't afford the one's I've seen online nor do I see any in the stores.
