What did you learn from the Curly Girl Challenge?
I learned that I love my curly hair. And that I've always loved my curls. They make me stand out in a crowd, they make me noticed. (Just ask my husband)My curls help me feel sexy and powerful. I am a force to be reckoned with, a pistol of a woman. They also connect me to my family. My siblings all of tresses of curls, all to varying degrees. You can tell we're related, it's all in the hair. I've learned that my hair directly corresponds to my self image and my self-love and whenever my hair looks great, I feel great. I can't help it. Finally, I learned that I didn't have the faintest clue how to care for my curls.I laugh at how many brushes I owned(now none), how many different products I used, down to three, and how much effort I put into to caring for them the wrong way. I learned that my hair, like life, gets better when you learn from your mistakes.
How has it changed your hair?
My curls rock! No doubt about it! In days I saw a huge difference. I spent so much less time on my hair, but my curls improved daily. They look like they did when I was a little girl. I was sold. The true test came when there was an awful Chicago drizzle in which my hair would frizz and normally, I would ponytail it, but my hair looked great. I mean, show off great, like I was carrying an invisible umbrella and everyone had the rain. Now, I'm a believer and I hope to add others to this Curly Girl Nation you started.
