Like I said before I'm mixed with Hispanic, African American, and a little bit Native American. I grew up with my mom who's Hispanic and Native American and has beautiful long wavy hair that is pretty easy to deal with. So when she had me she didn't know what to do with this mess of curls that was resistant to everything that worked for her. She tried her best for about six years then finally gave in and permed my hair. When she realized how much easier it made my hair she would perm my hair twice a year because she knew it wasn't good to do it all the time. She did that until I was 10 then took me to a salon who completely destroyed my belly button length hair making me cut it to about shoulder length. Once I was 12 I refused to let my mom do my hair because I realized how much harm she was doing even though she tried her best. I didn't really know what to do so I did a lot of research, spent a lot of money on hair products and took great care of my hair (for a 12 year old). When I was 14 I decided to cut my hair because it looked good that way when it was straight but when I wet it and it got curly I didn't like it so much. I kept it straight all the time until I was 15 then started to take care of it again. It grew out rather fast then I had a brain fart and permed my hair last year around Christmas. After that I stopped taking real good care of it because I became depressed over family stuff. In February I got help with my depression and began to be myself again. I started paying attention to my hair but wasn't committed to it like I was mainly because I knew it was already damaged and saw no point in it. Two days ago I got an urge to look up hair stuff because I wanted to get my curls back and I found naturally curly! After reading about the big chop I started to think about doing that. I know its getting cold but the sooner I do it the sooner I get my curls back. I don't have anyone telling me that I should, if anything everyone's telling me no. I'm 16 years old and it's my hair. I'm going to do whats best for my hair even if I look weird. I'm planning on cutting it next week over the break. I'm really nervous because I don't know how it's going to look but I feel that the short crazy hair will fit my personality perfect. Who knows? I might keep it short like that. (:
