On July 21, 2011, one hot afternoon, I just couldn't take it anymore! I was cleaning the house and my hair was sticking to my neck as I sweated. I was frustrated with the kids and the house. I decided that "this hair needs to come out of my face and off my neck right now!" It never crossed my mind to pin it up. After the 4-6 inch chop, I regretted it. It was uneven and noticeably short. I washed it, blew it out and my daughter cut it all even to my ears. I almost wanted to cry. I kept telling myself it's just hair and it will grow back. I'm still telling myself that it's just hair and it will grow back.
Pictures soon to follow... I can't seem to add a comment to each pic. oh well...
1st pic- late June or early July 2011: My used Miss Jessie's and Shea moisture. My hair was able to set into twists and spirals. The ends were noticeably processed when wet.
2nd pic- August 19, 2011: This is one month after I cut my hair again. (I can not find the July 21 chop-I probably threw them away in disgust). My hair texture is changing. I blew it out to give it some length. What I've done is braid it and keep them in for a month. When I take the braids out, I have to give it a hot oil treatment and deep condition.
3rd- 6th pic- September 20, 2011: I decided not to blow it out because it grew enough to wear a short fro. (oh how I miss the length) Yes, My texture has totally changed. It is now more spongy (no more long semi-processed ends). I definitely used my Afro pick with the fist. I'm not too shy to wear it out now. I will braid it back up soon. My hair seems to grow faster left alone.
What I have noticed is my hair texture changed again since the chop. ( I don't understand why it changes texture each time I cut it). Miss Jessie's Curly Meringue used to work very well with my hair especially with TST settings...not anymore. What hasn't failed me yet is Shea Moisture leave in conditioner. I love their whole line of products. I've tried Carol's Daughter but I think my hair wants something thicker to drink. Miss Jessie's Baby Butter Creme works well on my ends. So basically I've spent hundreds of dollars on these products and barely use them. I am going to make my own concoction and use these products darn-it.
