Hey guys!!

Sorry, I know it’s been a minute since I wrote my first blog post, but I have been swamped with all this school work! Yeah, I am so blaming college…lol. Well, I’m back with some great news and updates.

Well, about two weeks ago, I “henna-ed” my hair. Yep, and it was my very first time. I am in love with the results, and I plan on doing it again. I used the Jamila henna, 100 grams, 1/4 cup of apple cider vinegar, couple dashes of rosemary and peppermint oil, a teaspoon of honey, 2 tablespoons of castor oil, and mixed in water until it was about the consistency of yogurt. I didn’t measure how much water I used, however, it was more than 1/2 cup. I let the mixture sit for about 6 hours, and then I applied it to my hair. NOTE: It is important to line your hairline and ears with Vaseline so that the mixture won’t stain, and wear gloves!! I wrapped my hair in saran wrap, put a plastic cap over it, and then covered it with 2 scarves. I let it sit overnight, co-washed it, and then deep conditioned my hair.

End Result: Fabulous, soft hair w/ noticeable looser curls, and hints of red in the sunlight!!

Ladies, I definitely recommend that you add this to your list of treatments! I styled my wet hair with flat twists. When I took the twists out the next day, my hair was so much fuller. Everyone was complimenting my fuller hair.

I used to be afraid of my natural hair. I felt that hair was only meant to be worn in a fro, with no versatility. No, scratch that, I just thought that MY hair COULDN'T be worn in styles other than a fro. I was ignorant to the fact that we, as naturalistas, have the most versatile hair on the planet! We can do just about anything to our hair…shape it, bump it, curl it, wave it, straighten in, fro it out, etc. The possibilities are endless!

So ladies, DO NOT be afraid to experiment with your hair. DO research your future methods and discover if it’s safe and will not harm/damage your hair. There is no excuse for us to be ignorant when it comes to our hair. With tools like Youtube and blogs, we can be properly informed about our personal journey to loving OUR natural hair.

Be YOU!! It comes soooo naturally!! ;-)
