Watch the confidence grow!
Slowly but surely, I am growing into my hair. I love feel and the height that I get now. I must admit I look 10 years younger and my makeup is now "Popping".![]() http://images17.fotki.com/v295/photos/1/1637131/8566625/IMG00095201003191135-vi.jpg |
I finally did it!
![]() So to my surprise, today was the day. I went to get a consultation and decide...cut it off. I am feeling a little strange, but all in all I like it. Even more surprisingly, my husband likes it. Isn't that crazy? Oh well! I did a twist out as soon as I came home and will update you tomorrow when I take it down. Love you all! |
Who in Atlanta will cut my hair?
|
So I have a Birthday coming on March 31st. I am planning on doing my BC after nearly 10 months of transitioning. I am getting a little scared, but there is no turning back now. After making my commitment to all of you, I have to go forward. I have no idea what my hair texture is and will probably be in some shock. Keep in mind that I am not a fan of my new growth. I don't want anyone to "wack" my hair off after all these months of transitioning. And I didn't do braids so I put in some work. Does anyone know where I should go in Atlanta for a good cut? ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
Salon warning sign!!!
|
I went to a salon today looking for natural hair care products and the young lady suggested that I have a consultation with their natural hair care specialist. They were listed as one of my favorite product vendors retailers, but after today they need to be removed. The lady looked at my hair and asked me what I was doing with it. I told her that I pretty much wet it and pull it back into a bun. She then asked me if I have ever had it straighten and I told her that I have had it straightened in the past but not in the past month or so. She proceeded to explain that I need to let my hair rest longer so it will curl back up. But the red flag went up when she said, "You need to make sure that you are clarifying the hair at least once a week with a good clarifying shampoo." HUH? Are you serious? So I need to strip my hair of all it's oils at least once a week? She proceeded to hand me her card and ask me to come back to see her soon. I think not! |
We are on the runways, but not in the trends?
|
I work for a high fashion retail company that collaborates with Vouge Magazine to assist our clientele in the new fashions for the year. I recently received a copy of the hair and beauty section and was severely disappointed that we were encourage to be more clean, easy and free, but all pictures were of women with straight, straightened or wavy hair. Needless to say, there was one woman of color whose hair was straightened. This is probably one of Americas FAVORITE retailers. And these suggestions were made by some of Americas FAVORITE designers. I find this strange because I see natural hair all over the runways and know models whose careers did not take flight until they decided to embrace their natural hair. The company I work for brags about how it embraces diversity, but has excluded the diversity in the fashion industry. How do you suggest we make a stand and let it be known that we do exist? |
