| I recently was suggested by some fellow blogger to try some of miss Jessie’s products. The curly meringue, baby butter crème, and the quick curls. I am currently 3 months of growth, about an inch and half of length. So I used the curly meringue as suggested to do a twist set and I sat under the dryer... I have to say it really did the job. I will definitely be using it more for sets. I wasn't too much of a fan of the quick curls. I followed the video on how to apply it, but it didn’t really do much for me. Even though my hair is currently partly relaxed, it still gets really curly when wet. That’s thanks to my stylist not using super harsh relaxers on me. But I felt the quick curls just gummed up my hair and caused the curl to become limp and stiff. I read the ingredients and noticed it had alcohol in it, which I was informed many times that alcoholic products are never good for curly hair. You will never be able to achieve great curls. But the baby butter crème smelt and felt wonderful and was great moisturizer. The next product I tried which was recommended by my cousin for quick scrunching curl is Mixed Chicks leave in conditioner. I have to say I’m in love with it so much. This is exactly the product I was looking for for quick scrunching curls. Immediately when I applied it to my hair it began to curl and when “scrunching” the “s pattern” of my hair became more defined. Also the product did not way down my hair and to the touch it felt so soft. I'm definitely going to look more into Mixed Chicks products. I am happy with both products thus far. |

| So I have about and inch and half of grow out. The difference in my relaxed hair to my natural is amazing. I didn’t think it would be such a difference but my natural hair is so full and thick. So its kind of hard to figure out a hair style with the different textures. So I’ve just been doing the old fashion slick back into a bun. I do not want to do the bc just yet, I was thinking I would wait till around 6-8 months and see how it looks and possibly do my be then. Ill keep you posted on that. I’m going to give a review on two products I have tried so far. The first product I tried is Mizani's Thermasmooth collection. I have to say I wasn't too much of a fan of this. The product smelt wonderful and it really does straighten the natural hair. I bought this product as a way to keep my hair straight during the grow out so my two textures match and I could avoid doing the big chop right away. But you are supposed to combine this product with blow-drying and flat ironing during each use and that doesn’t sound healthy to me. I’m trying to cut down on heat so I will not have too much breakage during my grow out. The products website says that this product is recommended for those transitioning but I cannot agree with a product that makes you use so much heat, it cannot be healthy. Ill try it when I go natural and I want to do a straight style but it’s too expensive and damaging for a weekly use. Carol's daughter products are the second set of products I have tried and I have to say why haven’t I tried this earlier. I love it. So I bought the black vanilla shampoo, conditioner, leave in, healthy hair butter, Lisa hair elixir and hair milk phew!!! So yes I bought allot and was told I would need them all, but I didn’t mind buying them all because the prices were so great. I’m just amazed how soft my hair was after shampooing and I loved the smell. I see and feel a difference in only a week. I’m so amazed! It is definitely worth the buy. I’m not to keen on the hair milk though; its kind of a weird texture and it doesn’t really do anything. When applied it feels like im putting oil on wet hair, it just slides right off. But over all I love Carol's daughter and I will definitely be buying more of her products. If anyone has anymore product recommendations I would love to hear it as well. Next I will be trying Miss Jessie products and going by her step-by-step instructional videos. |

So The last time I received a relaxer was in Sept 2009. So basically I'm now have 2 months of new growth. About over a inch. Its really hard for me to tell right now what my curl pattern will be like but from looking at old pics of me it is wild! I try to remember that I'm a product of biracial parents. And back then they had now idea what to do with my hair. When I spoke to my mother about going natural she reminded me of how crazy my hair was as a child, and how difficult it was to tame. I told her I have been doing allot of research on natural hair products and we have come along way from "wild root" and "pink lotion". Oh my poor mother. Bless her heart for trying. I have always been told by my stylist that I have that "good hair" and I remember how beautiful, long, and thick my hair was before a perm ( I will find pictures and have them up soon). Also when I look at my hair in photos over the past ten years post relaxer, I see the transition of how relaxing has deteriorated my hair. It went from full to thin. No matter how much money I spend in the salon getting deep conditions and wrap sets. It still breaks off and eventually I have to get about 3 inches cut off to promote healthy new growth. I am so tired of spending money for no reason, as well as time to sit under a hood or a blow dryer. With all the money I spend in the salon, I could have owned a luxury vehicle with it. My Italian bf thinks its crazy how much I spend in the salon each week, but I tell him this is what black women do. Well I am not anymore. I've been doing alot of research the past two months on how to transition my hair without having to do the big chop because this is not an option for me. I'm currently trying out some new products that claim to condition hair and cause less breakage during the grow out process. When they arrive I will let you know how they go. Product 1 is the Mizani thermasmooth set and product 2 is carol's daughter products. So I will update my blog with my review on the products. |

- I have been thinking about going natural for over 5 years now, but I never had the research or know how to do it. I remember how full and healthy my hair was. Now after 10 yrs of relaxing my hair it's just getting weaker and more expensive! Starting over!
