To BC OR NOT to BC That Is the Question?

Lately i've been thinking about the big chop a lot. The reason for that is i feel like the two textures have finally started to bother me my natural kinks are so much more thick and healthy that they make my relaxed hair look super thin. The reasons ive decided not to "BC" are mostly about the length but even more important i have set goals for myself as far as things i want to learn about my hair before i "BC". I want to learn how to braid and i believe that would be so much easy while my hair is longer. I want to be able to take care of my natural hair 100% so that when i do "BC" i wont have to try and cover up my beautiful hair with braids and weaves. I need to be 100% prepared and i don't think i am just yet. Onward and upward lol. Im trying something new today: Deep condition on dry hair. I heard someone who tried this and has had consistent excellent results. As i type i am sitting here with my Olive oil replenishing pack deep conditioner on my hair. If i get great results i will be using it as my prepoo from now on. For now i decided against the big chop and hope to get braids to further my transition. |
And the Protein Hit the Fan!

A little background I have been transitioning since July 12, 2009 Four months and one Day! YEAH ME! So far my journey has been lovely i actually love rockin my signature style bantu knot outs and one days when i don't feel like redoing my hair i throw on a wig. The best part about transitioning in my opinion is that you fall in love with your hair. I have never felt this way about my hair. Fast Forward as i stated so far my transition has been seamless until (sound effect from horror movie inserted here) i tried a new shampoo... So i had been using the vitamin brand shampoo and conditioner which is sulfate free but i wanted to try something different just to see if i could find something with better slip or results period. CVS had a sale on most of their sulfate free brands so i indulged. I purchase the Renpure Organics "my hair is pretty parched" line. So week one i cowashed with the conditioner and liked it a lot much better slip than my vitamin. So week two i had a bit of a build up so i decided to shampoo. this is actually my second homemade wig since i've been transitioning and they are a nice protective style for times when i don't want to manipulate my hair or im being lazy. What i learn this week in transitioning is BE CAREFUL WITH PROTEIN! ![]() So I Prepooed with some cantu shea butter leave in and some olive oil. then I shampooed and conditioned no problem. Tied a scarf around the perimeter and went to watch a movie while it air dryed. When the movie was over i touched my hair to see if it was dry. only to feel a massive KNOT! i started freaking. So I ran to the bathroom and it was huge and there were knots all over and my hair felt stringy. I couldn't for the life of me figure out what had happened. until i re-read the label. it has silk proteins. then it dawned on me i could be protein sensitive. So i took days for my hair to return back to it's normal texture and feel. so i am having a bad hair week which prompted me to make another wig. (yeah that's right i made a wig lol) |
