Hey everyone! Just wanted to do a quick update and let you know how Harriet and I are doing. :o) St. Patty's Day was my 8 month nappiversary. I can't believe in a few months I'll have been natural for a year! It feels like I big chopped yesterday! I'm really proud of myself because I have a regimen that works and my hair is on a set schedule as to when I wash, deep condition, henna, etc. Things will definitely change in the summer as I'll co-wash more often but for now things are great. I love seeing then and now pics on various hair blogs so here's my personal then and now. Enjoy! Then: ![]() Now: ![]() -Nadia |
Hey guys! So I took the twists out. The first day my hair was super defined! I'm loving the results of using AfroVeda. Here's a pic:![]() But as much as I love definition, I love big hair even more! So day 2 of my twistout was even better in my opinion. ![]() Loves it! Because of Super Bowl Sunday I didn't do my weekly co-wash/deep treatment/twists day but I'll do that on Wednesday. So excited with my progress. I'll do a growth shot soon. :o) -Nadia |

Hey everyone! So I had to take the braids out way sooner than I imagined. The braids gave me this gross rash around my hairline so I took them out. It took me 4 hours to get them out. I was so exhausted I just did a hot oil treatment and went to bed. In the morning I washed that out with my J.A.S.O.N. Organic Lavender Sulfate free shampoo. Then I did my first protein treatment ever! I mean I've been reading about it for a while and was like, you know, I should probably get on that but I never did. But last night after seeing this amazing video on protein treatments I was like damn! I gotta do this now! Granted, I didn't use the same ingredients. I did a protein treatment with a raw egg yolk, mayo, and olive oil. I left that in for an hour and rinsed it out. The first co-wash after my protein treatment I had the least shed hair EVER! It was crazy! I was like this must be a mistake. But nope, I cleaned off my wide tooth comb and there were like 3 hairs lol. So hooray for protein! I've also since done my first henna treatment as well. I love the results! It's like a chocolately red color. I'm be returning to my routine of protective styling for most of the week with wash days on Sundays. I'm focusing on maintaining the health of my hair and retaining length. I'll continue my weekly deep treatments and incorporating bi-weekly protein treatments and monthly henna treatments. :o) Here are twists I just did on Sunday and I'll wear them til Thursday or Friday... rock a twistout, then co-wash and re-do on Sunday. ![]() ![]() Hope everyone's having lots of success with their natural hair! -Nadia |

Hey everyone! Sorry I've been MIA. My family is from Haiti so I've been dealing with the tragedy including personal losses of relatives and such. It's very sad and like everyone I'm struggling to come to grips with the situation. I did want to do a quick hair update though. I took my hair out of the fro-hawk and there was a lot of growth. So I figured I'd keep my hair braided up for the next few months especially with this nasty winter weather we're experiencing in the northeast. On Saturday I had someone braid my hair. She did the braids in front too tight but I unfortunately didn't realize at the time. Next time I'll have her do it looser because I don't want breakage. I've been struggling with my edges as it is. Anyway, here's a few pics. My camera is broken so I had to use the Blackberry. I apologize for the poor quality. ![]() ![]() ![]() I will update again when I take the braids out. I measured right before they were put in and my hair was about 3 inches long all around. Oh yeah! I forgot to mention, my 6 month nappiversary was on Sunday January 17th! 6 months post bc. I think I've come a long way. 6 more months and I'll throw a party lol! -Nadia |

Hey guys! I went to Haiti and have been away from naturallycurly.com for a while but I'm back! I had a fabulous vacation and hope you all had a great holiday season. The new year will hopefully bring me lots of fabulous hair days and some length. I'm really excited to see what the future brings! December 17th was my 5 month anniversary since my big chop. So far so good! I'm always learning and trying new things and remembering to stick with what works as well. Here is how I've been wearing my hair for the last week: ![]() I'll be back with some blogs about deep treatments, bentonite clay and my new favorite conditioner! Toodles! -Nadia |
