Figuring Out the Twistout!

Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving holiday! I definitely did. I didn't get to hang out with family because they're so far away(Haiti) but I did spend dinner with some amazing friends. For the dinner I decided to wear my hair in a twistout. Up until Thursday my twistouts always looked fuzzy and not very defined. After asking my fellow natural chicas for some tips I tried again and had great results. I was told I should make my twists smaller and try to twist tighter, both of which I did. Here are some pictures of the twists, the twistout and day 2 hair! The twists: ![]() Thanksgiving Day: ![]() ![]() Day Two: ![]() ![]() I'm gonna have day 3 hair today and 4 tomorrow. We'll see how it turns out. I'll do another post on how I revive my hair. I think it still looks pretty good. :) Feel free to leave comments or more advice! -Nadia |
Harriet's Free!
posted on Nov 15, 2009 by xtremelyperfect
Hey guys! Last time I blogged my hair was in kinky twists! Well my birthday was last week and Harriet wanted to be free so I took out my kinky twists, deep conditioned and twisted my hair. For my birthday I rocked a twist out and then a wash n go because I hopped in the pool(love how I can just decide to go swimming and not have to worry about my hair!). I had an amazing birthday and I can't believe I'm 26! Holy moly! Lol. Here are some pics:![]() My hair the morning of my trip to Mohegan Sun ![]() My hair freshly washed after swimming in the pool. ![]() My hair that night for dinner and drinks! So I've tweaked my routine for the winter months. I'm going to co-wash and deep condition once a week. I will wear my hair in twists for 5 days and twist out for 2 until it's wash day again. I moisturize daily with my spritz and keep my hair wrapped whenever possible. I am going on vacation in a month though so for those couple of weeks my routine will have to change again because I'll be going from 40* weather to *70 weather. w00t! These are twists I did two days ago on wet hair(I hate shrinkage) As you can see from the distinct difference in color my hair's grown a little while in the kinky twists. Hooray! ![]() So I just wanted to update you guys on my hair. As it gets longer I'll be able to do cuter styles and what not but I'm loving life right now. Don't forget to check out my personal blog Silly Nads. -Nadia |
Upgraded Twists

The last post I made I showed you guys twists I put into my hair... well I didn't like how they looked. They were very sloppy and seemed rushed so I got the appropriate hair and re-did them. I think they came out much better this time and they look more natural. So woot! I took my time this time and it took a couple of days. Here are some pics. ![]() ![]() If you want a full run down you can go to my Fotki and check it out. -Nadia |
Protective Styling
posted on Oct 19, 2009 by xtremelyperfect
So I live in Massachusetts which gets really cold in the winter. This year it seems like winter's starting even earlier than usual (it snowed here just yesterday!). So to protect my hair from the harsh cold winds I decided to do some protective styling. After weighing my options I decided to go with kinky twists. It was affordable and something I could do myself. Today after washing and conditioning my hair I started the 6 hr process. It was tedious but I think now that I know what I'm doing it'll take a lot less time. I also got extremely tired at the end and the front reflects that. The parts are horrible and I did bigger sections so I could just finish. From far away it looks cute, up close, not so much lol. Here are some pictures of my long hair day!![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I plan on keeping the twists in for 2 months. I don't know if they'll keep but I plan on taking great care of them so hopefully they last. I will still do Curly Girl and co-wash, deep condition and clarify as needed. I'm pretty excited that I won't have to do too much to my hair for the next two months. :o) -Nadia |
Positive Changes!

Yesterday I ran my first 10k ever! So exciting! Sarah, my roommate, and I have been training for a little over 2 months and Columbus Day was the big day! It was so exciting. I'm not gonna lie, after mile 2 I was like umm I don't know about all this lol. But that was just momentary insanity and I got my second wind at mile 3. I finished the whole 6.2 mi course in 1 hr 17 mins and 47 seconds! WOO! So happy lol! I think next I wanna train for a half marathon. I don't know though. That means I'd be running for over 2 hrs lol... That's a long time. How do people run marathons?! Geez! Here are some pics from our amazing day including an up close picture of the puff I did to run the race!![]() ![]() So far I think going Curly Girl was a great decision! My hair is super soft and my curls are much more defined. I also feel like I'm doing much better with Hand In My Hair syndrome. That helps as well because my hair is less frizzy. I'm definitely contemplating doing kinky twists though as a protective style for the next couple of months. I'm thinking of doing them myself and I would take them out just before Christmas for my trip to Haiti. I will let you know what I decide. You know how impulsive I am! -Nadia |
