Still Going Strong
|
I have not gotten my hair relaxed since the end of February, 2010. I never thought I would have ever gone this long without a relaxer. I have found a good salon, and some great products for my hair. I just purchased a hair steamer tonight. I am told the steamer will help my hair retain moisture, and keep it from reverting so quickly. |
So Far, So Good
|
My last relaxer was in February, 2010. I would have gotten a touch up last week or this week, but here we go. I'm really going to try to transition all the way out of this perm. I'm excited and nervous. I can really feel my new growth. I wonder what I will look like and how I will be able to manage when all of my hair is natural. I've been looking at all of the blogs, and it looks like most people chop off all of their hair. I'm really trying to condition my hair and keep it moisturized. Hopefully, I will be able to transition successfully and share my experiences so others (who want to) can do it without the BC. My goal is to have my hair trimmed a little bit evey 8 weeks until I am totally natural. So far, so good. :-) |

I joined this forum because I need help. I'm thinking about transitioning from my relaxer. I have shoulder length hair, and it's in decent shape. I do not look good with short hair, so I'm am totally opposed to a big chop. I don't mind having it trimmed as it grows. I have not had natural hair since high school, and that was quite a while ago. My memories of my natural hair; however, are fresh in my mind. My hair was wild, unruly, tough to manage, and almost impossible to comb through. Just thinking of those memories alone is enough to make me wonder why in the world am I even considering natural hair. Yesterday I visited a hair salon that caters to natural hair. All of the people in the salon had natural hair, but me. The ladies that were there had long, shiny, flowing hair that was straight. I want me some of that, but were they the exception to the rule? Is that possible for me? I don't want damaged, broken off, dry, brittle, unruly hair. Is it really possible for me to transition to natural, shiny, LONG, flowing hair? |
