A journey's end.

Dear eager readers,
This March's journey has been exciting. Documenting my natural hair journey has made me so much more aware of the importance of embracing every aspect of my natural self. Though the Grow Out Challenge is coming to an end, I will definitely continue to document my journey on the new blog I have created that I told u guys about in a previous post. I hope everyone can look back on their posts from day 1 and see as much personal growth as I do. I look forward to experimenting with new styles and products as my hair grows out (rapidly, I might add!) and I wish everyone the best of luck and encourage all my fellow transitioners to stay strong and stick with it. Even if you're just transitioning from heat styled to cold-turkey-no-blow-dryer like me (well...this time).
A last little piece of knowledge I gained: Hair can get to be a social thing. You can get so wrapped up in it that you start to attach your unusual value to it, and see it as the make-it-or-break-it aspect of your beauty. When I cut off my hair, it forced me to explore other things that made me beautiful, and it allowed me to understand that beauty is extremely diverse. Beauty comes naturally, not in a jar, or in a box, or a bottle. You don't make yourself beautiful. It's like a hidden treasure. At some point, you just realize what was there the whole time.

Sincerely,
Sarah

A Night Out.

All I can say about the Phi Alpha Delta dinner was that I made it. It wasn't pleasant, but I made the best of it. As I expected, I got some stares lol. I realized that being at college is kind of a shelter for me to grow out my hair in an environment where frankly, no one really cares what you look like. However, when I get out into the "real world" for events that my boyfriend frequents, at swank locations like last night's venue, the Bayview Yacht Club (ugh), the reality hits me that we have a long way to go for natural hair to be accepted as normal. It seems like "natural" and "normal" would easily go together. It is truly a goal of mine to make the people around me realize that is the way it should be. Even though my little curly fro was getting some strange looks, I was proud to wear it, and I wore it well. Heres a pic :)

Okay, Okayy...

Alrightie, so I was a little harsh on the Belle Butters Premium Enriched Whipped Shea Butter in my last post. Heres a really quick review because I have an exam to study for :O)
I give it a 6/10
Downsides: 1. Not compatible with water. I love wet styles. I am the QUEEN of the wash n go. So, this was a appointment. 2. Thick and heavy! This stuff is beyond thick and it certainly doesn't live up to the ideas of a light fluffy cream you have when thinking of something "whipped".
Good points: 1. Because all it is is Shea butter and oils, it's a really good moisturizer for the skin. I use it on my face at night and wake up radiant! 2. It's good for doing dry styles (like the new dry twists I found out I can do!) And it keeps my edges down WAY better than gel! :) All in all, I'd still stick to the Baby Buttercreme because of the versatility it offers, but I'd buy this again in a pinch.
I've been brief, but what's a college girl to do but study?
Happy Transitioning, ladies <3 Catch ya later!
