Hey everyone! So I had to take the braids out way sooner than I imagined. The braids gave me this gross rash around my hairline so I took them out. It took me 4 hours to get them out. I was so exhausted I just did a hot oil treatment and went to bed. In the morning I washed that out with my J.A.S.O.N. Organic Lavender Sulfate free shampoo. Then I did my first protein treatment ever! I mean I've been reading about it for a while and was like, you know, I should probably get on that but I never did. But last night after seeing this amazing video on protein treatments I was like damn! I gotta do this now! Granted, I didn't use the same ingredients. I did a protein treatment with a raw egg yolk, mayo, and olive oil. I left that in for an hour and rinsed it out. The first co-wash after my protein treatment I had the least shed hair EVER! It was crazy! I was like this must be a mistake. But nope, I cleaned off my wide tooth comb and there were like 3 hairs lol. So hooray for protein! I've also since done my first henna treatment as well. I love the results! It's like a chocolately red color. I'm be returning to my routine of protective styling for most of the week with wash days on Sundays. I'm focusing on maintaining the health of my hair and retaining length. I'll continue my weekly deep treatments and incorporating bi-weekly protein treatments and monthly henna treatments. :o) Here are twists I just did on Sunday and I'll wear them til Thursday or Friday... rock a twistout, then co-wash and re-do on Sunday. ![]() ![]() Hope everyone's having lots of success with their natural hair! -Nadia |
