Curly Q&A

Stuff you don't want to find in hair gel for curly hair?

by Rawr4Cookiez (3a)   category Products

I know curly girls have to be careful when looking for products. Like with shampoo, sulfate is something you don't want and  conditioner you don't want silicone. What about Gel?

You don't want to see alcohol in your gel because it can be very drying. These alcohols are okay:

  • Cetearyl alcohol
  • Cetyl alcohol
  • Stearyl alcohol
These ones are dying:

  • Isopropyl alcohol
  • Propanol
  • Propyl alcohol
  • SD alcohol 40

Also look out for silicones and mineral oil or petrolatum/petroleum in gels and other products, if you want to wash with conditioners or gentler cleansers. They may not remove the buildup from these ingredients properly.

I meant the second group of alcohols are drying.
