Your curl pattern is not determined by how well you take care of your hair, assuming that's what your final statement was implying.  It is genetic, and that is the simplest answer that I can give you.  Genes have a way of confusing us all.

I know how you feel! Almost everyone in my family has naturally straight hair. My dad and my paternal aunt have slightly wavy hair and I have mostly 3b hair and parts that are 3c. If  my hair texture was the only thing you saw and compared it to my family's hair texture you'd swear I was adopted, lol!

That being said, good for you for taking care of your hair so well and rocking your natural texture! Like anonymous said, our differences make the world interesting and it's a true gift to yourself to love yourself as you are. Maybe your family will eventually follow your example! :)

Genetics plays a role in our hair make up along with everything else that determines how we look. Just to help get clarity, I believe that you may have a combination of all those hair types that your family has and  maybe, just maybe the different textures don't all respond the same to the products you use. For example, in the back of your head around the nape, you may find the hair is softer, fine in texture, and easy to define with the moisturizer you use but in the middle where your crown is you find its a  little thicker, not as soft, and doesn't define so well without a combination of that same moisturizer and  gel. Continue taking care of your hair  and enjoy being different. The world would be boring if we were all the same Just a thought from my personal experiences.
