Last Sulfate Wash Before Curly Girl Method?

Hello everyone,

This is my first post here so forgive me if I have done anything wrong haha! My question is regarding the last sulfate wash that you are supposed to do before starting the curly girl method. I have been using the method for almost a week now.

I did do a last sulfate wash before starting because I know you are supposed to, but then today I realized that the sulfate shampoo I cleansed with contains silicones (Dimethicone, Amodimethicone, methylchloroisothiazolinone, methylisothiazolinone and maybe others)! I am not an expert at identifying cones as I just started the method, but these are the things that end in -cone. FYI it was the Dove Nutritive Solutions daily moisture shampoo!

My question is:

Does cleansing first with a sulfate shampoo that CONTAINS cones defeat the whole purpose of trying to remove them from my hair? Does this mean that I still have silicones in my hair? I don't really want to have to buy a new sulfate shampoo just for a one-time use. My hair already looks so much healthier only a week into the method and it would be a shame to start over.

Thank you all, I really appreciate it! xx

The whole point is to stop using sulfates. There is nothing special about the last one you do except that it'll hopefully be your last. This is kind of like regaining your virginity. No do overs!
